Settings need to be split....
You have
window layout settings:
+show/hide tab/toolbar
+normal/autoscale
+size parent
Global settings
and
Connection settings
+encoder
+color
+repeater
+mouse handling
+...
Global settings need to be save in some ini file
While connection settings are connection based.
(auto save/load)
Connection settings
Reuse the name from the host selection.
Search for "host".ini and use thoose settings if exist.
Multi connection settings
ini file that contain names ("hosts".ini) and screen size/position
(relative to parent)
Using this method, i guess we can cover all settings.

Update...
I just try to release as many updates as possible, just to get in time
infomed for bugs.
For me, current status has already passed Beta, and viewer is at least as stable has Rel1.0.1 ??????????? Yes/No
Fix: Close bug
Fix: save connection missing
Fix: Fullscreen buttom (gray bar)
Fix: border in fullscreen
Added:
+connect button
+List of saved connection
./vncviewer.exe
./viewers/ *.vnc
You need to create a directory viewers in the directory of the viewer exe.
Save connection, save the .vnc in that folder.
Todo
+auto save all open connections on close
./autosave/ *.vnc
+load and remove *.vnc on start
Future
+SC generation
+Auto deploy on LAN (using little SC exe), not the full ultravnc suite.

Feature Request
===========
Using SC <-> repeater <-> viewer,
Seems like vncviewer could be loaded into the system tray. You right click on it to create or enter a session key, then vncviwer waits for this connection and notifies you when its connected to the remote end.
(am thinking later repeater might get more involved, but simple for now)
Since we send the end-user an email with SC instructions, they dont connect right away, maybe 20 minutes or more.
Right now we setup the viewer, and it times out after a few minutes. Then have to re-connect it, wait a few more minutes. Rather setup and forget until they connect, then we decided to accept.
On the SC side
==========
* a notification once viewer accepts the connection (right now it notifys when connected to the repeater, but not to viewer)

Hello,
I have been using your beta viewers for a while and whenever you release a new one i have given it a go. I have noticed a few things which i thought i would mention:
1) Disable Remote Viewer / Keyboard does not work with the new beta 1.11 viewer. You click it and nothing happens [Note: with 1.01 when reenable the remote viewer / keyboard i have to close the viewer and reopen it as i cannot type anything but the mouse movements/clicks are ok. Also, when the remote viewer/keyboard are disabled i get 100% CPU usage on that machine until i reenable the monitor/keyboard - Laptop / ATI graphics chip].
2) The remote mouse movement with the new beta 1.11 viewer isn't as smooth as with viewer 1.01. If you are watching the remote screen whilst moving the mouse you will see that the movement is quite jerkey. If you do the same test with 1.01 then you will see that the movement is quite smooth.
3) The icons have white backgrounds now in the new beta viewer and do not blend into the tool bar like 1.01 viewer
4) When you come out of full screen mode the midi container doesn't return to its last setting. it always returns to its default size. E.g. if the container window was maximimised then it isn't when returning from full screen mode
5) I don't know how easy it would be but it would be handy to be able to switch between viewer windows when in full screen mode using the tool bar that appears at the top of the screen rather than having to come out of full screen mode, switch window then go back into full screen
6) The authentication box doesn't always come to the front and have the focus [VNC Viewer Status gets the focus]. This means you have to select the box before you can start typing you password. This was present in older viewers as well
7) If the login fails you are not prompted with the login screen again. I thought this feature had been implemented in 1.01 and 1.0. Seems to have dissapeared and was a handy feature
8- I never seem to be able to see anything in the drop down box that has appeared along with the connect button. I have tried typing in the ip address i want to connect to and clicking connect but that doesn't do anything. I guess i am doing something wrong. I think i read that it is supposed to be a connection history so you can reconnect but nothing is ever logged in there. Any idea's?
Great product which is getting even better.
Thanks

Thanks for the feedback....
Some things need to be changed, other are inerent on the new multi viewer application.
1) Need to be checked
2) The new viewer auto scale: On some video cards/hardware this use a very high CPU. Using the viewer with the "normal screen" mode should have the same effect as the previous version.
When resolutions between server and viewer differ, fullscreen is only possible by scaling. Or you have black borders, or CPU is hiogher because of the scaling. Nothing we can do to lower the cpu and make the mouse moves smoother.
Can you compare 1.01 with auto scaling and new viewer and new viewer in "normal mode" with 1.0.1.
3) Just the .bmp button image. Need to change it again.
4)5) In full screen , the menu bar is disabled. When going from full screen to normal mode, the menu bar is back enabled. The effect of enable/disable menu bar is that the mdi (min/max/close buttons) also dissapeer.
To prevent this we auto cascade when you go out of fullscreen.
Possible 4) 5) need a common solution, low priority.
6) Need to be fixed
7) In 1.0.1 we restarted the viewer when auth failed.
The new viewer keeps cont. runnning.
With the new viewer you only need to press " new connection" button, so no full restart needed on auth fails.
I will see if it can be done easy to restart only some part of the veiwer,
but problem is less then restarting the full application.
8 ) The new combobox is not the historylist, but a favorite list.
The "save as favorite" still need to be added to the menu
To test

Just a "cosmetic" observation: when there is no connection active, the "Screen" and "Special Key" menú items are disabled. You should disable the "Tools (File Transfer and Chat)" and "Options" menú items too.
Another one, the "Connect" button and the combo box just doesn't appear ... Using W2000 Profesional, 1280 x 1024 resolution, small fonts.

Rudi,
Keep up the great work!
Possible feature/bug: when opening a new connection, the main app freezes waiting for the connection to start - current display is the "VNC View Status". Should you be able to open and wait for multiple connections at once?
Should the status page run in the background waiting for the connection? Maybe a minimize screen?

Rudi:
This viewer is great. There are a few things that bother me:
- At launch, I maximize the container viewer to my 1280x1024 desktop (on a secondary display). When I connect to a server running 1024x768, the 1.12 container viewer shrinks down to the size of the server window. I would like it to remain maximized to the full display.
- Also, when connecting to another window in the same setup as above, the 1024x768 viewer comes up in "normal" mode, but some of the bottom of the window is not visible, and I have to resize the server window by draging the bottom down to eliminate the need for scrolling. I think it should come up this way by default.
Great stuff, though. Please keep up the good work!

Encryption problem with Beta12 viewer
I tried beta 12 viewer and seem to be having a problem with the dsm plugin. I can connect to one client fine. When I try to open another session in the viewer I get an Write Exact: DSMPlugin Transform Buffer Error. I run all of my vnc servers in excrypted mode with 128bit strength. I have had great success with the stable viewers and even the SCIII Beta with SSL. I would like to thank all of the programmers and people that make VNC available for all to use. It is a great product keep up the excellent work..

wish list
Great job on the new viewer!!!!
There are some things I want to add to the wish list. Sorry if they were already said.
1. Hot key for full screen. (F11 or F12)
2. Be able to minimize when in full screen mode.
3. Be able to switch back and forth between computers in full screen mode.
4. To be able to have all option in tool bar when in full screen mode. (Chat, file transfer, toggle view, send special characters, etc.) Without having the tool bar shown. You might want to put a drop down menu on the full screen bar.
5. Have a way to remind you that you are in toggle view mode.
6. Have a way to automatic reconnect if you reboot the remote PC.
7. Have the computer name listed when in full screen mode.

Fullscreen
Fullscreen button in toolbar only goes to fullscreen. When in fullscreen mode the button doesn't bring you back.

I see the toolbar but when I click the fullscreen button (when I'm already in fullscreen mode) it doesn't bring me back to the window mode...
I know... little bug.

Hello,
I have been using the new Beta 1.13 and i seem to have an issue with mouse cursors being left on screen. If you move the mouse quickly in any direction i am finiding that it is leaving pictures, of whatever the cursor was doing at the time, on screen. The only way to get rid of these old cursors is to click the screen refresh button.
Anyone else seen this?
If i use the version 1.01 release i do not have this problem.
I am connected on a gigabit lan.

Beta Client Fails with High Resolution Screen
In an attempt to connect to a high resolution Xvnc screen (running under RH Linux), the new beta client fails with an abnormal terminaton.
Screen resolution is 8000x8000x16.
Successful connection with an Xvnc server running at 5000x3000x16.
I did not attempt to find the boundary of this failure.
I assume this is an allocation error that is poorly handled, but I have been known to be wrong

Not sending windows key to server
Hello,
Using Beta 1.13 i don't seem to be able to get the scroll lock to work. With version 1.0.1 if you have scroll lock on you could push the windows key and it would send it to the remote host. With the new beta this doesn't seem to be the case.
Any idea's?
Simon

Hello,
I seem to have a problem with Auto Scaling in Beta 1.13. If you are VNC'd from a PC with a lower resolution than the server you are connected to you get scroll bars. This is fine but if you scroll down to the bottom of the screen so you can see the windows start bar and select auto scale the resulting viewer screen only shows half the screen. It seems to auto scale from the point it is at rather then from the top. This means that i only have half a window. You have to drop out of auto scale. Move the scroll bars up to the top of the screen then hit auto scale. Is this an intended feature or should it auto scale from the top?
Also, has development stopped on this version for the time being as no new versions have been released recently?
Thanks.

Is it posible in the explorer addressbar to connect with the ENTER key. this was a nice feature what i'am missing to in the old vnc client. The next point is a way to save all settings with password to connect very quickly. for example i have a console pc and there 10 servers for manage. in the morning i like to start every session with one click. is this posible with the v2 client?
kind regards

I did the same test... using uvnc as proxy
viewer ---> 5901
server --> standard port
Indeed it CRASH.
The cause is the auto settings. This viewer does not support tight (disabled in the menu), but the auto setting still had the tight in it.
As it only happen using unstable long distance connections i never noticed it.
The test proxy seems to do his job for it.
