Viewer n server... both behind proxy!!

Post by Bipsi »

The topic says it all! But I'd like to put some details to get some detailed reply. So please guys... don't just send me to another page :)

1. I use a proxy server
2. I do not use a router/modem etc.)
3. My partner (using a cable modem) is also behind a proxy.
4. (I successfully used UltraVNC and SC at my home lan. Those were easy) I downloaded SCIII necessary files but confused about the things bellow:
a. Do we need another pc for repeater that we both have remote-access to?
b. helpdesk.txt
-id 12345 -sslproxy -connect 216.55.178.47:443 -noregistry
Should I write repeater IP or my own IP?

Thanks for reading the post. Any help would be appreciated.

The problem is that the repeater need to be reachebale from both sites.

If your only access to the outsite world is via a proxy, you have bad luck.
Can you connect to the internet without a proxy ?

viewer<--->proxy<-->repeater
server<--->proxy<-->repeater

We have a test repetaer running, but he is not 100% online
repeater is on uvnc.com (216.55.178.47)

Code: Select all

[TITLE]
Technical Support - Desktop Sharing
[HOST]
Technical Support SSLPROXY
-id 12345 -sslproxy -connect 216.55.178.47:443 -noregistry
#216.55.178.47==repeater ip
#SSL  -> :443 needed
[ENTERCODE]
Enter Your ID
[DIRECT]
-id 1234: This is not used !!!! when [ENTERCODE] exist.
User need to enter the ID code.
-sslproxy: This tell SC, ssl is used
-connect 216.55.178.47:443 (adress of the repeater)
If you are unable to setup a repeater, you can use ours, but don't expect it to be very fast.

Test 1
1) Download from
http://sc.uvnc.com/scIII/
vncviewer_crash_fix.exe
SCIII_test.exe

Run the SCIII_test.exe on your PC
Run the viewer on the same PC
That's easy ...

Check [topic=3239][/topic]
for the settings of the viewer

viewer<--->isp proxy<---->repeater (uvnc.com/216.55.178.47/hosted in US)
SCIII<--->isp proxy<---->repeater
This way you should be able to connect to yourself via your isp proxy server and using our repeater...

This need to work first....

If this work i help you further :)

Thanks a lot Rudi for a quick reply.
Can you connect to the internet without a proxy ?
No, I can't connect without a proxy.
This need to work first....
Yep. it worked and I can connect to myself but blank/black windows keep opening. Is that because the viewer and the server is on the same pc?! Well I tried it with another pc on my home lan. It works :)

Thanks again.

I tested it with same pc and it worked. Now i want to access my friend's pc (jut for a test). We tried it once but I think the repeater was down that time. OK now my question is,

Who will initiate the connection? Server or Viewer?
It seems like we have to make a phone call or sms that we are going to connect and both have to sit at the comp. same time! :|

Please help me out with a reply considering my ignorance. Thank you.

Indeed, you both need to agree for making a connection.

viewer --> connect repeater
server --> connect repeater

Order is not important, but it need to happen before the timeout time.
Server is kicked of the repetaer after 5-10min of inactivity.

The timeout force you both to agree on connection....
Removing this behaviour would require some extra security.
