Current state of SCIII?

Post by Atze »

Hi folks.

After i read those postings here, i'm a little bit confused about the current state/situation of SCIII.

I used the current "SCIII_test4.exe" and "vncviewer_crash_fix.exe" to connect over "uvnc.com"and it worked (btw: is there a newer version existent?)

My main-question:
Is it possible NOW, to prepare an own server (repeater as i understood) and compile a 'server' ("SCIII.exe") and a 'client' (vncviewer.exe)?
Or must i wait for a later release/beta?
If possible, could someone point me out how to?

Best regards,
Atze

Sorry,

Still didn't find time to continue on this.

Map:
-first need to finish the new viewer
[topic=4137][/topic]

-Need to add a transport layer
This step is needed as both ssl or nat2nat require some extra transport layer. This should be somehow integrated with the viewer.

-SC creation need to buidin in the viewer. Some kind of wizard to easy generate a SC.

Time is current the limit :)

Hiu Rudi,

thanks for replying.

That sounds like tough work still to do.
So i will have to 'sit and wait'. ;-)

Hi,

In the mean time you can create your own server package using these instructions.

[topic=2801][/topic]

It did not work "out of the box" for me, but with some tweeking (my system + the package) it worked out fine. I now have my own SCIII reperater-server combination running. For viewer, just use the latest one from:

Hi wmoerdijk.

That sounds good!
I will give it a try.

What exactly did you have to tweak in your system to get it running?

There is only one (vncviewer_crash_fix.exe), or?

And a general question:
Is it running stable and reliable?

P.S.:
Sorry for double-posting again, i should get an account here. ;)

Hi,

As I recall, I got a message about the 16-bit MS-DOS subsystem, a common error having to do with corruption of either autoexec.nt, config.nt or command.com files in your windows32 folder. If this happens, just google for the solution.

I also got an error relating to 7zip because the right file was not downloaded. I then picked it up manually and skipped the automatic fetching of files.

Other than that, just read the instruction carefully and look at the batchfiles that create the package.

I has been running very stable for me for a couple of months now, just bear in mind that I have a small setting with few connections per day. I also reboot the machine (almost) every day since it is running on one of my desktops.

Good luck!

Wouter.

I took a look now and saw that the files referenced in the mentioned thread are down.

Is it possible to get them anyhow?

I do not want to post files created by someone else, so I suggest you ask deega.
