Hello,
Are previous versions of the SC Creator avaiable? I've had greater stability with some of the older versions than the ones currently available.
Thanks!

Been having a few problems with the v1.0 TEST version as well. It's still got some kinks to work out - but then again, that's why it's a test, right? lol

There seems to be an incopatibility between AUTO encoder select and
SC.
Viewer: Use everything EXCEPT auto

Yes, that's basically what I've experienced.Rudi De Vos wrote:There seems to be an incopatibility between AUTO encoder select and

I've also noticed that direct connections (aka instead of through a repeater) tend to fail more for some reason. I've even noticed sometimes the connection is *faster* through a repeater rather than a direct connection, which seems strange to me.
I've had many people directly connect to me, and then the viewer either not load, or close within 2 minutes. However, through a repeater, everything is typically fine.
Hope that helps a bit...

The repeater also server as a little buffer, so that the viewer will receive a more constant stream of data.
In auto mode <128kbs, to many encoder swithches happen.
Possible the repeater make the speed more constant.
I will check the auto mode with Sam again. For my own use, i disabled all small speed checks in auto mode. Hextile>128kbs>ZRLE

SC is a nice one finally making it easy to set up a VNC connection. Great work. My thought are:Rudi De Vos wrote:What are the current problems with 1.0 TEST ?
I'm thinking about those users who are not aware of what a Doubleclick is. The UserInterface could be in one place even easier: Select an Item from the List and having a "Connect"-Button. Bundeled with a parameter having one List-Item preselected.
Don't misinterpret this - the doubleclick-Way should still be there for advanced users.
An additional Timer would smoothen the thing by Connecting to the pre-selected Item when the Countdown reaches zero. So the user would have e.g. 20 Seconds to interact, select, Close(Deny) or do nothing (to get the connection established).
I am aware of the [DIRECT]-Option and mean it alternatively to it.
A technical issue: When having a TightVNC Client in listen-mode, a connection from UltraVNC SC can not be established. They both hang while handshaking. Same happens when I call UltraVNC viewer from Command-Line like /8bit /listen 5000
One more cosmetical thing - even if I'm unsure if this is the right place to post this: When Connecting using SC it shows Ballon2 ("You are Connected") already while at the other side there is still a Window asking if I would accept the incomming connection... It does make a difference if the Remote-Control was really established or the Notification only shown at my screen like when I would not be at the Viewer-PC. (My Suggestion: Ballon2 after Acknowledge from Viewer - or an inbetween-Ballon "Waiting ACKnowledge" or "Training..." or "Initiating..." or "Handshaking..." or similar).

Yes, I've experienced this. However, with the last person I used SC with, it wasn't a matter of running "more smoothly" or fewer encoder switches (which definately does happen too much for slower connections). It was more of having a direct connection be unusable (aka modem speeds and random disconnects), and the repeater connection as fast as broadband and no other problems whatsoever. (Ps. the new repeater is awesome - definately fixed all the problems I used to have.)Rudi De Vos wrote:The repeater also server as a little buffer, so that the viewer will receive a more constant stream of data.

Yes, that would be great. I usually end up switching it manually to 64-bit w/Tight encoding myself. Auto mode just switches way too much.Rudi De Vos wrote:I will check the auto mode with Sam again. For my own use, i disabled all small speed checks in auto mode. Hextile>128kbs>ZRLE

OK, so when i understand is there a problem with the colors
<256....this was something new that was added.
SC does not know the Tight encoder (size) and use Zrle instead.
This will crash the tight-viewer as he does not understand zrle.
Layout: You are correct, still some work on that part.
But have to wait for an offline creator, so we can electronic generate the
helpdesk.txt...it become already to complex for most users.
