automatic installation

Post by sgt-d »

i have a quick question...

i had made an unattended installation based on 1.0.0. then i updated my installer to use the pre-release exe's dated 7/7/05. all of the pc's updated to the 7/7 versions.

now i have rebuild my installer so it is based on 1.0.1. the installer runs, i can plainly see it turn off the winvnc service and it appears to be uninstalling the old files, then it goes thru the update - but the about dialogs still show 7/7.

alternately, if i manually run add/remove programs and then run my automatic installer the about dialogs show the correct exe dates of 8/6.

what could cause this?

; winvnc.exe needs to be first here because it triggers stopping WinVNC service/app.
Source: src\winvnc.exe; DestDir: {app}; Components: server; BeforeInstall: StopVNC; Flags: restartreplace

but for some reason it is clearly not stopping winvnc :/
