Performance is abysmal with New version?

Post by yelena »

Hello,

We upgraded from 100-RC18 to 1.0.0 and the performance was abysmal that we were forced to go back to the previous version.

We installed this version: Ultr@VNC 1.0.0 + Driver Setup on uvnc.com.

When we attempt to connect it takes significantly longer.

When we open a DOS Prompt, on the remote machine, it is totally unusable. When we attempt to type a character the same character is transmitted more than once.

We did a search and didn't see any other topics on people having performance issues. Any one else experiencing these issues?

Regards,

Hello,

i have the same performance problems here...even with UltraVNC 1.01. :|

While i use the file transfer over the internet and start a second instance of the UltraVNC-Viewer to control a machine in our LAN the performance is really bad. It´s nearly impossible to control the second machine over the LAN because the mouse jumps around like i´m playing a shooter with 3 frames per second. :| :o
When i stop the file transfer with the PC that is connected over the internet everything works fine and fast on the other instance again.

btw: I installed v1.0 and after that i installed the update-package v1.0 --> v.1.0.1 ...is that enough?? Or is it better do a clean install again with v1.0.1???

Thanx for your help.

Best regards,

Butcho

You shouldn't have such problems with Viewer 1.0.1, at least it should be really better than with Viewer 1.0.0.

Any feedback welcome on this. My test gives good results with v1.0.1 viewer.

Who's speaking ?

Butcho ?
In this case I don't have to test/rework this part again :P

If it's someone else, thanks for the positive feedback... and I'd like to get Butcho feedback as well...

No...that wasn´t me. :)

But thanks for the fast answers in this thread.

As i said before: i did a clean install with V1.0 and then i used the update-package to version v1.0.1 but no better results with v1.0.1
Is the viewer also updated when i use the update-package from v1.0 to v1.0.1 or only the server?

Maybe i should do an new install on our machines using the full v1.0.1 package. I´ll give it a try.

I´ll come back later and tell you if it works. :)

btw: sorry for my bad english...it has been a long time ago since i wrote in english the last time.

Greetings,

Butcho

Ok... so I'm going to make more test of FT over DSL connections.

Simply using the v1.0.1 viewer exe should give better results for you.
If that's not the case, I possibly have to adjust some temporization params.

Oh....sorry for my late reply. :x :P

I installed the full v.1.0.1 package again this morning and it seems that everything is back to normal. Maybe it was the viewer.exe ....i don´t know exactly.

But what i know is that file transfer AND remote control on the second instance work together again in perfect harmony. *lol* :D

No more performance probs here. Thanx for your help. UltraVNC is the coolest tool on planets known by mankind. 8) 8)

Perhaps it might explain one or another problem with overwriting versions of UVNC. Had strange issues on Windows XP machines while updating from 1.0 to 1.0.1. After Updating and reinstalling as system service I started the new! client (viewer 1.0.1), but windows somewhere had cached? the old viewer and startet the wrong one (could be seen in title bar). The same exe copied to desktop and started came up with "...1.0.1" in its title bar, so the exe was correct. So if you patch or update programs, always try a full deinstallation, reboot and install afterwards if the problems seem to stay rather than dissolve :)

Do I need 1.0.1 for both components?

Do I need 1.0.1 of the viewer and server to fix performance issues? Or do I only need to upgrade the viewer?

Hi,

i updated both, the server and the viewer using the full v1.0.1 installation. The update from v1.0 to v1.0.1 didn´t solve my problems. Only a clean, new installation worked.

And guess what?? I still runs perfect. :D :) :)

Great improvements with 1.0.1

We were reluctant to upgrade but tried it on a new system we built. We were happy to see that it was "kick butt". We immediately migrated the rest of our systems.

Keep up the good work.
