Hi

I get this message when trying to connect to the server from the viewer...

This server does not have a valid password enabled. Until a password is set, incoming connections cannot be accepted.

I can right click the icon in the system tray and go into admin properties and I type in a password where it says vnc password. For example 5676. I hit apply and ok. When I come back in there are 8 stars there. This may be a default or it may mean it did not take my entry and it still has whatever it had there on install.

I have also tried using msII logon and I added my administrator account with full rights and still get the same message.

I have also tried turning off authentication and setting it to query with a default action of allow and it rejects my connection.

I also read on the web page that this softwarecan be used like helpdesk or remote support software and the client doesnt have to have preinstalled software...how do I set this up. When a client calls me I want to be able to get into their machine without forcing them to download and install a bunch of software... is this possible?

thanks

Have you added the vnc passwd with an administrative account?
Is the server running as service or app?

With MS-Logon II, you should see entries in the event log on the server indicating what happened.

Regarding support without preinstalled software, see UltraVNC SingleClick (SC).

I am logged in as administrator when setting the password. It is running as a service on the server. As yet I have not seen any info in the event logs, but will try the msii logon and see if it says anything.

Thanks for the reply.

ok problem solved - I had been trying to install and setup remotely via ms term svc. Once I got in front of the machine physically, there was a message box waiting for me to change the password. Once I changed it at the console, it started working.

I am off now to figure out Single Click -
