Windows Server 2003 - mirror driver never ACTIVE

Post by Terriff »

I can't seem to get the mirror driver to show as ACTIVE when viewing the video hook driver status.

I've tried uninstalling the video driver, re-installing (all while disconnected and VNC server not running).

Versions: 1.00.19, 1.00.17, 1.00.17

Also, what is the System Hook DLL?

Thanks

Terrif: remember that the video driver is ACTIVE only (and I remark ONLY) when there is a vncviewer connected. Also remember that the video driver needs a reboot after installation.

Thanks for the tips.

I knew I had seen the answer somewhere....It turned out to be the 24 bit color issue. :-]

Perhaps the VNC server should throw up a message indicating the "preferred" color settings if it detect unsupported modes? This would probably reduce the confusion and support issues. Just a suggestion.

Also, the FAQ indicates that the System Hook DLL checkbox should always be checked as it is supersceded when a better driver exists. Why not just set this in code instead of offering the checkbox?

Thanks again for the help.
