ultravnc vs windows xp 64bit

Post by sgt-d »

heh... help?

connecting from my work computer running windows xp pro sp2+ to my new box at home running windows xp pro 64bit is nothing short of a lesson in frustration.

sometimes it connects, other times it just sits on a black screen. a little while later it connects again. if it ever fully connects and shows me the remote computer, it never stays connected very long. sometimes i will just minimize the connection to the windows taskbar and look down a few minutes later and it's gone.

making matters worse is that even in a situation where i can actually stay connected for five full minutes, the entire time the connection is horribly laggy... i am assuming this is because i can't find a version of the mirror video driver that will install in the new 64bit environment.

if anyone is running ultravnc between two 64bit systems, or even a mixture of 32/64, and doing so with relatively decent success, i would appreciate any insight.

same experience

I'm having the same experience running from xp pro sp2 to xp pro 64bit. The connection, when connected, is very slow and locks up and disconnects often. Going to try real vnc tonight to see if results are any better, same or worse.
