RC18 general questions

Post by BryanS »

These might be in a help file or FAQ somewhere, but if so, I can't find the answers. If they are answered somewhere else, please tell me.

1) What is the purpose of the additional video driver? Is it installed on server, client, or both?
2) I had Windows logon working with RC11, but now it's not working with RC18. I am not on a domain, just user/password. I see there are some changes to the way Windows logon works in RC18 with the Groups 1,2,3. Not entirely sure what I need to do to get it working again. Currently I have the 3 groups blank and just "Use Windows Logon" checked, but I when I try to login, I get "VNC authentication failed".

Thanks!

The original NT authentication allowed members of "Administrators" and "VNCAccess" groups access, so you should put either or both in groups one and/or two.

Here's the link to the page where it says what the additional driver is all about:

As far as the Windows Logon feature, I think you need to insert the username in the boxes you said you left empty.
This space not for rent.

For MS-Logon, you should configure groups in the MS Logon Setup.
If the user is a member of one of the groups, access is granted.

If you have multiple domains with trusts (e.g. AD tree), you should also try and test the new auth.dll, see [topic=339][/topic].
