Will VNC coexist with CarbonCopy?

Post by kger »

I've got a customer's Windows 98 machine on which I'm trying to access via UltraVNC, and for the life of me I cannot get it to work. I always get the "Failed to connect to server" error. Another machine on their network (connected as part of our WAN) works just fine with VNC, so I'm assuming there is nothing wrong with the connection between here and there.

That target machine also has CarbonCopy on it, which I'm trying to avoid installing on my machine. (This is that last customer machine I support that uses CC.)

Does anyone know for sure whether UltraVNC Server will nicely coexist with CarbonCopy in "listen for call" mode on Windows 98?

Cannot throw any light on Carbon Copy, but, as a suggestion, has the 98 machine ever had ZoneAlarm installed? If so, perhaps do a complete removal of that software.

try test the network on that machine...

...by using www.gotomyvnc.com
They do a port test 5900-5910 to see if there is a server listening.

In the vicinity of that website there is also a good faq on connection problems.

Bye,

Good suggestions -- thanks. I'll check out both of those.

I'm probably a bit late on this but I have carbon copy running with ultravnc. I tested it and I can connect with both at the same time.
