Multi-Monitor (Dual-Display) support?

Post by DodgeV83 »

I currently have a 2 monitor setup on my home computer. Ultra VNC only sees the primary screen, while RealVNC correctly scrolls between the two monitor screens.

Is there a way to use Ultra VNC with a multi-monitor setup? If so please help me out!

I believe it depends on your video drivers and their configuration. For example, at my place of employment, I use Matrox G450 dual-head cards in a number of machines. If I configure the drivers to have a separate resolution for each display, then I only get the primary window when I VNC into that computer. If I have the drivers configured to use the same resolution for both displays (meaning one longrectangle instead of two normal-sized ones, i.e. 2560x1024), then when I connect I get a window that is the size of a normal display, but there is a scroll bar across the bottom that lets me see the entire, dual-display desktop.

FYI: When I am connected to a computer that is configured for separate resolutions and I launch an app that doesn't appear on the primary display, I simply right-click the app in the taskbar, select MOVE from the context menu, and use the arrow keys to move the app window into the primary display.

Hope this helps.

Yea I know how to move windows onto my display using the taskbar, the problem is my taskbar isn't on my primary display! My primary display is my TV. This is necessary to watch TV with my Beyond TV 3 software (like TIVO).

I have an ATI All-In-Wonder 9600.

Also. The resolutions on both windows are the same. It works perfectly in RealVNC 4.0, its a new feature in 4.0. The way I have it set up now I have to log in RealVNC first to move the taskbar over to my primary display, then log onto UltraVNC. Really a pain in the butt, especially considering I plan to use the security plugin, and having to log into RealVNC really defeats that.

I love the software, but having the multi-monitor support ala RealVNC 4 would be terrific! I've got two monitors running the same res, but I'm forced too use different refresh rates which means I can't just do the spanned multi-monitor setup to make it work. Please Please add this soon!
