not removing server wallpaper

Post by riechert »

I've got the latest v100 installed on Win2k as a server. It runs as a service and has the remove server wallpaper option checked. But when I connect with the viewer the wallpaper is not removed. This happens with the win app and the Java viewer. I can easily test this by just using the loopback connection. Needless to say this slows response. Is it a bug or am I missing something?

It's either a bug or a "hidden feature". I have similar....

I run the server as a service and the first connect or login I ask for always has the wallpaper. The second does not. So either disable it on the workstation or do two connects.

My 2 cents.

That's how it used to work for me. But now it doesn't matter whether or not I'm logged on nor how many times I connect, the wallpaper stays.

Oh...

well that's something completely different and as just a user I can only guess.

The usual response is to say uninstall all instances of UVNC at both ends, reboot and try installing the latest... you probably know that route but I've not other suggestions, sorry.

I've noticed 2 things with the wallpaper removal:
- if you connect to UltraVNC when a session is not opened on the server, the wallpaper is not removed. Close your VNC viewer, reconnect to the server and the Wallpaper is now removed
- UltraVNC only removes the "classic" Wallpaper not the Active Desktop one

Hope this helps,

Regards,

I have the same problem -if you connect to UltraVNC when a session is not opened on the server, the wallpaper is not removed. Close your VNC viewer, reconnect to the server and the Wallpaper is now removed

Is this a bug that is going to be fixed?

Hi guys,

I have the same issue. I have tested on both Win98 and on WinXP. I am using a *standard* BMP-based wallpaper, and NOT an active desktop (in fact, that's disabled).

When I connect, the wallpaper stays. If I connect again, the wallpaper stays. I posted this bug back in August, and so far as I know, it's still a bug.

That said, this is not always the case from system to system. On *some* installations, the problem doesn't happenr. Yet on others, it always happens. I can find no pattern.

I have (for the time being) reverted back to RC18 as my wallpaper is.. <ahem> not for everyone's eyes.

Hopefully this will be fixed, or redone in the next version.
