UltraVNC over VPN

Post by Arnostek »

Hi. I have got problem and I didn´t find answer yet, so need little help:
on computer "A" runs UltraVNC server. It is inside corporate network, but it is not in domain (it is only in workgroup). Now-comp. "B" from outside, which is connected to corporate network via VPN. When I run UltraVNC viewer, it connects, logins, but nothing happens.Neither blank screen nor error message apperas---simply nothing happens. I have tryied to connect to domain server via remote desktop and then to use ultravnc viewer, but it is the same. Comp. A and B have windows xp sp2, ports and aplications are in firewall allowed. And finally-if I connect directly from domain server (or another comp. inside network)-it works perfectly. Can anyone help me? Is it in VPN?

Is it possible that there is a VPN policy (or lack of a policy) that is limiting traffic over certain ports? If you can use UltraVNC from the domain server locally but cannot use UltraVNC from the domain server when remotely controlling it with RDP, I would think the issue is with the remote connectivity somewhere.

Also, have you tried connecting backwards (meaning the vnc server back-connecting to a listening viewer)?

Sounds to me like mrbrown has the right idea of what to do. I am running UltraVNC with VPN and experience no trouble with UltraVNC (except I wish some of the VPN's had more bandwidth). Let us know what happens.
