I'm an inbetweener, neither novice not expert.
I find the documentation a little scant.
The passwords seem to be limited to 8 characters. Is there a reason for this? It doesn't warn me if I type in extra characters.
So what is Javaviewer? Why enable it? I use basic viewer to client connections.
I need to have specific ports for each machine, so I can set up routing tables.
I understand the VNC Port : setting
But what do I use in the http port: ???? I've tried zero, but does that allow a hacker in?
What is a none portable password? Do I need to tick the box?

8 chars: Historical, all vnc versions support a 8char password
If you want a longer password you need ti use the encryption, this allow to set a long password.

The java viewer allow access via a browser. But code is old and most browsers now refuse the java, this part require some work.
You only need to activate it in this case.

The default port is 5900 but you can use any port you want.
You can use port 80
remark for viewer
Historical unix session 0 was 5900, session1 5901, 5900 was added , using double : you indicate that you actual want to use port 80 and not 5980
server_ip::80 -> 80
server_ip:80 ->5980

portable password: A password is saved in the ini file, normal the ini files are portable, you can use it on another system
non portable, The password is encrypted with some system serial, on another the decrypted password give another result.

Thanks for that.
I was asking about using 0 in http port as a means of disabling http access.
I only want users to use the UVNC viewer to access, not http.
Does 0 in there create any known problems?

I think I might have had a cyber attack succeed on version 1.3.8.1 as a user reported the mouse moving around the screen and opening windows.
The debug log showed an access at that time, but the mslogon.log didn't show it.
I've now updated to version 1.4.3.6
