I'm connecting to my Win 11 PC in the basement where I'm ripping Blu-Rays with my remaining PC that has an BD drive. Running vncviewer on my Win 11 laptop in the office, I can see the progress bar in MakeMKV increase as long as the monitor in the basement is turned on. But when I turn it off, the screen freezes. Closing and reconnecting to the client shows a black screen even when I move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard. When go to down to the basement and check on the system, I can see the machine is still running just fine.
I've done this some years ago and I'm pretty sure the monitor could be turned off and still allow vncviewer to show what is going on on the desktop. Am I missing a setting or something?

Re: No remote control with monitor turned off?
It's a win11 thing, they now disable the video card when no monitor is connected ( or portable closed)
As vnc need a video card the screen is black.
You can use the UltraVNC virtual monitor driver, and tell the viewer to create a virtual monitor when he connect.
Then win11 think a monitor is connected and video card is back on.
