Win11 improvements or known problems

Hello Rudi,

we are using a rather old version 1.2.3.0 and are encountering some refresh problems with Win11.
We do not use any mirror driver, but all needed DLLs.

Here is the question:
Is there a recommendation from your side to upgrade to newer winvnc versions, especially regarding Win11?
Of course, there have been a lot of improvements and bugfixes in newer versions, for sure, but which of them are addressing real Win11 problems?

The problems appear like this:

But this user seems to use the latest release.

We are very conservative while updating WinVNC because it's vital for us. Never change a running system without good reason. But if there is a good reason, don't hesitate to change.
Trying and failing is less effective. But maybe it's also not that easy and effective to answer. I'm really sorry, if not. Then we should better do trial'n'error.

Have any Win11 specific changes been made within the last releases? Or only changes of common nature?

I browsed and searched the version log with GIT. No specific updates for WIN11.
But many security fixes since then. There are many good reasons.

I'll mark this topic as answered.

Maybe one of the next versions should be to specifically address Windows 11 issues. That could even be a parallel path along with other versions for bug fixes only.

In other words, it might be time to take a breath, and reel things in before a new push for features again.

Just a thought.

Note: UltraVNC 1.3.x branch is old, it is needed to use a recent version, latest current stable is 1.4.3.1 and there is a 1.4.3.4-dev build with fixes.
