Same problems as 1.3.8.2 but now worse....

Post by Shadow Lord »

So I had posted about VNC windows not showing up in this viewtopic.php?p=111210#p111210 previously. I was hoping the upgrade to 1.4.2.0 would fix the issues but it seems to have made things worse.

1. The disappearing windows problem is still there. This seems to be a z-order issue. That is when I connect to a server the window does not pop up/become visible. However, if I was to manually move the window (i.e. select the VNC icon in the task bar, pres alt+space, then M, and then use the arrow keys to make any movement) the window pops up as expected. I have been experiencing this particular bug since 1.3.8.2.

2. Can't log into Win 8.1 system. Once I am connected and I bring up the user log-in screen I can not put my PW into the field.

3. Looking at the "Administrative Properties" page for UltraVNC the bottom part is cutoff (i.e. the text and option below the buttons).

TIA for any help.

This is not the expected behavior.
This are essential things that should work.

Something must trigger it.

1. monitor settings viewer pc, does the left screen start with 0, 0 as coordinate ?
2. 8.1 system current no idea, this works on my system
3. what the screen resolution you have

100% or do you zoom

Need more info to be able to repeat this, if i can't repeat it i can't fix it.

You don't say ;)

Where would I find this information. I checked in the VNC settings and the connection info file and did not see it.

Used to work for me as well. Now when I get to the login window (where you have the user "picture", username, and password) I can not get VNC to move into the password box (focus never goes there). In fact on that screen pressing the letter "s" on the KB activates the shut down menu option. Even if I put the focus in the password box directly at the remote system typing from the client VNC system does not work. BTW: The issue does not occur when I VNC into a remote Win2K8 R2 system. There I can log in just fine from the same client.

The remote system is 1920x1080. The client is 1600x1200 so I would need to scroll to see everything before. The remote system is set to 100% no zoom.

Sure. Please let me know what other info you need. Thanks for your help.

I tried to repeat it on virtual pc without luck.

Please open
%appdata%\ultravnc

This contain the config files for of the viewer connections
options.vnc + server.vnc
Settings for each connection can differ

Check if no sensible info is in it), i just want to have the same viewer settings.

Also the ultravnc.ini from the server , remove ip/passwd hash, don't need that.
You can pm the files or copy the content

Possible i have more luck using the same config on server and viewer

This did it! Thanks. I wasn't aware there was connection information here. The options.vnc had set the windows position to

x=-1600
y=-58
w=0
h=0

for the 8.1's IP address. I erased options.vnc and it seems to be working. Even the issue with logging in has gone away. Thank you for your help.
