Hello,
I have an issue with VNC on Windows Server (never had that issue on Windows 7/10). I installed VNC server and to allow UAC screens input from vnc sessions I wanted to register vnc as service. Everything is fine but while loggin in via vnc viewer, I am forced to use login screen instead of looking at logged-in user desktop. In application mode it works correctly (when any user logged-in, then I can watch its desktop without disturbing), but when I switch to service mode, it automatically chooses to log in from login screen and as a results kicking the other person. Any suggestions, ideas?

Re: Vnc forcing login screen instead of logged-in user desktop
The user is using an rdp support session.
Running as application, vnc clone the user desktop.
Running as service, vnc clone the console.

Re: Vnc forcing login screen instead of logged-in user desktop
While reading forums, I noticed the explanation that while using running as service, you will see either the desktop of currently logged in user or else the login screen.
When I use running as service on desktops to avoid loosing connection after restart, vnc is showing me the desktop of currently logged-in user.
Here on virtual machine with Windows Server I always get the login screen. Is that because of the fact that more than one person can be logged-in and it will always behave in that way?
If I lack some kind of basic understanding of this whole system, please kindly explain that widerly.

Re: Vnc forcing login screen instead of logged-in user desktop
On a rdp server system: console + rdp
On a standard PC: console OR rdp
VNC always clone the console in service mode.
VNC always clone the user session appliaction mode ( this can be the console or rdp session)
BUT:
There is an experimental option (server)
[v]RDPmode
If you connect you first get a speical preconnect screen, showing the active sessions.
Then you can choose what you want ( console, rdp1, rdp2, rdp3..)
