Can't Connect - Probably something I am missing

Post by Snoopy »

Using uvnc V1.4.0.6

I have probably missed something simple, but I was able to get uvnc working in my local network no problem. When I try to connect to a remote machine I have the "Failed to connect to server !" issue.

Remote Machine and network set up
Remote Router: Port Forward TCP 5900 to target machine
Machine Firewall set to allow vnc5800, vnc5900, vncviewer.exe, winvnc.exe (both Public and Private)
I have checked the uvnc server settings for my local machine and the remote machine and they appear to be the same.

Other Details:
Other forwarded ports (for a different application) work.
Remote Machine is Windows 11
Vnc Viewer machine is Windows 10

VNC Viewer just Fails to Connect.

What am I missing? How can I debug what is failing?

Thanks in advance.

Next Issue

I have connection to machine on local network working with VNC Password.

When I set the server to MS Login the Viewer shows the MS Login prompt, but when I enter my credential I get: "authentication rejected"
It does not matter if I have Password Required (enabled or disabled).

Hoping I can get some assistance on this as well.

TIA

You need to select who has access.
Use mslogon2 -> configure
Give your account access

mslogon2 use the standard ms file access to allow/deny/view only.

Rudi, thanks for responding.

I am not sure what you mean by mslogon2, but I assume it is Just the Require MS Login check box, and not the New MS Logon checkbox.

Currently testing on my old main computer to my new main computer. Both have the same user ID who is the admin level user.

First try:
ON the Host machine (UltraVNC Server Settings) I set the Require MS Logon, Click on the Configure MS Logon Groups, add my (host) user ID and select both Local and Domain. Now when I connect I get the Login credentials request, and when submitted I get Server closed Connection, -Manual closes, -Network disconn message. It also terminates the server on the host machine.

Second Try:
Since I am doing this on my home network (private, no Domain), I tried setting the Host Config for the user to be Local only, but got the same result.

Third Try:
On the Host machine (UltraVNC Server Settings) I set the Require MS Logon, configure my (host) ID, and then on the Advanced section remove the checkbox on the Password required. Local ID Only. Still same response.

Fourth Try:
On the Host machine (UltraVNC Server Settings) I set the Require MS Logon, configure my (host) ID, and then on the Advanced section remove the checkbox on the Password required AND remove the checkbox on the Allow Shutdown UlltraVNC. Local iD only. Still same response.

Fifth Try:
On the Host machine (UltraVNC Server Settings) I set the Require MS Logon, configure my (host) ID, and then on the Advanced section remove the checkbox on the Allow Shutdown UlltraVNC only. Local ID only. Still same response.

So, for all my tries, I get the same message and the Host UltraVNC server shuts down.

Any suggestions as to what to try next?

Any ideas on why I can't even connect through router/firewall?
