Connection issues

Post by Illumina »

I'm behind a router running the latest version of VNC, and while I can connect to and from my laptop <> PC, no one else outside my LAN can successfully connect to me. Are there settings I can alter within my linksys router that allows a connection to go through the appropriate port(s)?

You'll need to forward incoming port 5900 TCP (assuming that is what you are using) to the appropriate internal IP address on your LAN.

The correct IP being the LAN IP (the one VNC gives you)? Assuming that's the case, I've already done so, and still nothing.

Do you want to connect from outside of your home ?
see my link of previous message, there a quick step by step to do for connect to your home from anywhere.
or
you want only use locally at your home WLAN <--> LAN on your private network ?
if that's, just activate bridge=yes on your General setup of your home router for WLAN and LAN can communicate other than only web usage.

I actually took a look at that post before creating this topic, but changing my settings to static IP and using the DDNS host name severed me from the internet altogether - also, I've already opened port 5900 to the best of my knowledge. Are there any specific intructions you can give me?

if you have a firewall on your computer, not only your router and/or antivirus, open port 5900 and authorize the software antivirus to let run winvnc (like NAV2005) and viewer

I've already done that, and I still can't connect.
