PCHELPWARE Viewer and Creators Update issue

I have been using PCHelpWare Viewer 1.0.0.1 for about 8 years, using Direct Connection and it has worked on all versions of Windows, including 10.

But when Creators Update 1705 came out, the connection does not show the Remote Screen correctly. See pictures

I have tried using the Compatibility Troubleshooter, and also turning of the DPI options, turn off DirectX, Low Quality etc. The following is what I have tested.

Viewer on Creators Update does not work, on previous versions of Windows 10, it works, even if the Remote PC is using Creators Update it works.



PS I have tried Single Click, but it left stuff on the PC, and did not seem to be as good as PCHelpWare, so if I can get it working again, I will stick with it.

I have the same problem.

I can´t see screen of the remote pc. But the user in the other side can see that I move the mouse and even I can click in then desktop icons.

Help!!!!

I had another go trying to make it work, but the PcHelpWare Viewer does not seem to work under Windows 10 Creators Update, there has been various updates to Creators Update, but still the same issue.

Shame because PCHelpWare is a really good product.

@nincillo, i have just tested and I can see the mouse moving at the Remote end too.

I have tested with the latest Windows 10 Insiders Preview, same issue.

Basically the Remote PC can be any version of Windows 10, but the PC Helpware Viewer does not work since Windows 10 Creators Update.

Just to let everyone know, Windows 10 Fall Creators Update does not fix the issue.

As this is a old software i need to know what you are using.
Soft is in archieve and don't know what you are using exact

Sorry i did not make clear what I meant Creators Update, that is the 4th edition of Windows 10, Fall Creators Update is the 5th edition.

Windows 10 1st, 2nd, 3rd edition were fine.

Found src back and was able to repeat it. Hidden on a tape backup from many years ago.
I'm realy surpised that it's still proper working with a win10 server and a XP viewer... even fast.


Looks like it's a viewer issue.
Server win10 and viewer on XP -> OK
viewer on win10 -> lockup

The PCHelpWare Viewer worked on all versions of Windows 10 up to Creators Update and Fall Creators Update. It did not matter what the remote end was.

I still used it because it was easy to customise and very good, and looks like other people still liked it.

Step 2: debug

I'm still debugging the viewer on a new win10, takes time to find the crash spot.

Until know i found that the cause is:
The viewer window messages stop working, making it unresponsive.
The screen update is correct but the message never reach the window.

It Take time to debug you can't help with that part.

Thank you for the great work, I have tested it and it is working. Personally I kept using PCHelpWare as I found it better then Single Click, so great to have it working again.

It works. I can see the remote PC, can cllick with mouse, but cannot write with keyboard.

This should be better, please test if no other parts are locked
Looks like some inter window communication is looping or locked, a little trial and error to fix as teher is no

So more good news, something that i never ever saw work, was if the remote was not 100% on the display, it would crash when it connects. It is now working with the new version.

The keyboard works now. There is no more bugs untill now. There is something on previous versions, that I don't know if still persist - when 'User account control' on remote PC is turned on, I cant operate. I will try it, and let you know. Thanks

UAC can't work unless pchw server is started with runas admin.
UAC only allow you to control application with the same or lower security level.
