Safer to use UltraNC + MS RC4 Plugin vs. unsecured wireless?

Post by DodgeV83 »

I'm am currently connected through an unsecured wireless connection at my school. I'm also connected to my main computer though Ultravnc + the encryption plugin which seems pretty safe to me.

Wouldn't it be safer to use the internet through UltraVNC on my main computer? This way all of the data sent over the network is encrypted. If I close UltraVNC and just use the browser on my laptop, nothing is encrypted.

Am I correct on this?

It is always safer to encrypt your data. If you are talking about logins and passwords.

Someone else on that network could be listening for usernames and passwords going to FTP or web sites and then your accounts are compramised.

So if your connection to your home computer isnt that slow and using it via VNC seems to be okay I say thats a much safer way then just jumping online on an unsecured network.
