Hi Rudi,
We have very often the problem, that while doing Remote support the screensaver blocks our work.
Is quite normal for us to inspect a problem, read about it in the internet or discuss it etc. When we get back to customers screen the saver blocks us. Then we have to call the customer and he has do press a key or move the mouse.
In former times the most customers didn't had activated the screensaver. But now, with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) nearly all customers have acivated a locking screen after a short time like e.g. 1 minute.
I'm absolutely sure, there is an option on winvnc.exe side to disable the screensaver as long winvnc.exe is running.
But I haven't found it in documentation. Or are we the first ones to request this feature?
Cheers Greg

Server Option to disable the Screensaver
Re: Server Option to disable the Screensaver
Has anybody else a glue what to configure in ultravnc.ini? Is there a possibility?
Any hint or help would be very appreciated.

Re: Server Option to disable the Screensaver
The problem is not the screensaver, as soon as you move a the mouse the screensaver stops.
The problem is the screen locking that need to be deactivated.
Only possible running as service and you need the password.
Changing settings isn't a solution, this are in 90% of the cases forced/blocked company policy and would require admin access.
The only thing that could work is to add something that actual move the mouse a pixel left/rigft evevry x minutes or press some key.
Need to be added and can take some time.
There are several small apps that does it on the local screen, move the mouse a little every x seconds.

If the mouse is local moved, vnc also send it rmote...

Re: Server Option to disable the Screensaver
Hello Rudi,
I also thought moving mouse pixel left/right would be a very general soltion, always working, no matter of elevated or not.
Of course we will have a look at one of these small apps, but if it would be integrated in winvnc.exe the advantage was that
there is no risk that the prevent-lock app runs longer then the ultravnc session etc.
I believe it's risky to start (and possibly forget) such an app on customers side without having control by winvnc.exe
SO: Here is my official feature request for having this feature integrated winvnc.exe runs locally so it should be possible to do the trick.
We would very very appreciate it if a mousemover would be integrated within one of the next versions.
Cheers Greg

I'm working on an updated viewer, and keep this in mind.

Re: Server Option to disable the Screensaver
I am also interested in this implementation because it often happens that I have to call up the client for the screensaver.
it would be very useful
Thank you
