Viewer opens on wrong monitor

Post by bitoclass »

I have just upgraded both my computers to 1.0.9.6 from 1.0.8.0, on Windows 7 64-bit (for the computer I'm running the viewer on in this scenario) and Windows 7 32-bit (for the computer I'm viewing remotely).

I am suffering from an issue related to my dual monitor setup, which I had never experienced before.

I have on my taskbar a shortcut to VNCviewer as follows:

"C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" [computername]:0 /password [password]

(I censored the things in brackets!)

This worked fine before but now it persistently opens the VNC Viewer window on my secondary monitor, which is located to the left of my primary one, and which is slightly smaller than the screen I am connecting to, so even when I move the window to the correct monitor (Windows Key + Shift + Right Arrow does this in Windows 7!) it has irritating scrollbars and doesn't redraw the right and bottom of the remote computer's screen when I expand it unless I go into and out of full-screen mode... Basically it's just a pain and requires several clicks and drags just to get the VNC Viewer window into a usable position and size!

The shortcut always used to open on my primary monitor before, and I assumed it was opening roughly where I last closed it, but I can't find a registry entry storing these co-ordinates so who knows?!

So, anyway, I wondered if anyone knew why this behaviour had changed, and whether there was anything I could do about it?

Thanks very much,
Paul

I somehow managed to overlook this similar thread:

Genuinely don't know how! Apologies.

That said I suppose I am asking a very slightly different thing here, about command-line launching of VNCviewer.exe, so my query could perhaps be resolved if a command-line switch was available to select a monitor.

For anyone following this thread, I've now documented a pretty good workaround in the other thread:
