No mouse clicks - passwords are different.

Post by admiral70 »

I am using version 1.0.8.2 and able to connect to another server with no issues. The problem after connecting is I have not mouse clicking ability. These are on Windows 7 machines logged in as Administrators.

I have two separate passwords for vnc password and view only.

I have a home network and have two VNC Servers running on different machines. I have given each a different port then the other.

I have Remove Aero, Remove Wallpaper and Capture Alpha-Blending checked mark.

I have the ports open in the router and the machines firewall.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

Did you install the UltraVNC service or are you just running the server as an application?
Have you disabled UAC or set it to never notify?

Hi Supercoe:

I have installed and running the winvnc service. So I think I did and I go to administrative tools | services and see vnc-service.

I have disabled UAC.

It is strange how I connect with zero issues but just like in view-only.

Thank you for giving me ideas.

Enable UAC and set it back to its default setting, let me know if that fixes the issue.

supercoe,

Enabling UAC (reboot) did not help. The mouse does not even track. Should I try tightVNC or one of the other flavors?

I use VNC Viewer to remote into the other computer. I do have server on both computers if that matters.

Thanks for trying I really appreciate it. Before Win7 life was great.

You can't talk about TightVNC here that would be blaspheme! :P

Are you on 7 64bit? If so did you install the 64bit UltraVNC?

Did you change the default install directory?

Try running the server as just an application after removing the service.

The "before Win7" part makes me think that this was an upgrade? People tend to do better with clean slates, due to the detritus most VNCs leave in the registry and/or Program Files directory.

You could also try reverting back a version (UltraVNC 1.0.8.0 works better for me), although this particular issue sounds new.

Lastly, maybe something as odd as a mouse driver is at play? Have you tried making the cursor huge? Changed the "track remote cursor locally" settings in the Viewer? Changed screen resolutions? Installed (or removed) the mirror driver? Just some thoughts.

This is driving me crazy I am sure it is easy.

I have Windows 7 32-bit on both systems
I installed to default directory.

I stopped the service and then uninstalled the service. I started the server and then rebooted. Made sure the service is not installed and working. Then I go to the other computer and launch UltraVNC Viewer and it is set for Auto on the quick options and view only is NOT checked mark. I click on connect and enter the password for the VNC password (not view only).

It connects and the background turns off. Then that is all no mouse movement and not able to click.

More information.
I have Charter cable
I have a D-link DIR-655 wireless router
I have the vnc viewer computer hardwired
I have the vnc server on wireless
I use non standard port numbers (ie 5960)

Thanks again this has been driving me crazy since going to Windows 7.

Try using the "Medium" setting instead of auto.

Complete uninstall and removal of directories. Reinstalled full version on both machines.

I am now able to use UltraVNC as it was intended.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Geek in me wonders what was the problem but it is working now.
