How to initiate reverse connection (Add new client)

Post by David.P »

Hi forum,

please, I just need a quick hint or link how to initiate a reverse connection (i.e. "add new client" from server).

Thanks!

Oddly enough, I haven't been able to find any simple instructions anywhere online on how to establish a reverse connection (using the VNC GUI).

For some reason, also VNC's start menu entries were not created for me either, so the start menu entry "UltraVNC Viewer (Listen Mode)" was missing.

After reinstalling UltraVNC, I then found this start menu entry and started it.

On the server, I then only had to right-click the VNC icon, click "Add new Client" and enter the computer name (in plain text) of the client, without password and without "Connection #".

Then the VNC window on the client opened immediately and showed the contents of the server screen.

The only question left for me at the moment is whether, or how, I can set up a (virtual) resolution of the server screen that is larger than the physical resolution of the server's monitor?

See forum question here: Can a fullHD server be set to a virtual resolution of 4K?
