"Connection lost" error trying to connect to W8.1 locked WS

Post by Luke_Als »

Hi,
I have this problem trying to connect to my laptop PC from my Android phone.
Both are connected to the same network, PC wired and phone wireless; when the PC is not locked I have no problem to connect with my mobile device, but when the PC is locked (i.e. pressing win + L keys or when it goes in automatic lock) I receive the error "connection lost" after I have inserted the password required.
I have tried to connect looking at the PC screen in order to see what happens and I have noticed that after confirming the access credentials te PC seems to accept the connection but soon after it blocks again kicking the phone out the connection.
The PC is a win 8.1 laptop (Installed UltraVNC Win32 server 1.1.9.6) and the phone is a Nexus5 with Android 4.4.4 (installed VNC Viewer version 1.2.6.109857)
For security reasons I can't leave the PC unlocked when I'm out of my office and that's why I'm asking your help.

Thank you in advance for your precious help.

That's a problem with non ultravnc viewers.
Vista>= has multiple sessions.
the vnc server run always in the console session, but when the console session swicth, like logon->default desktop or user switch
In that case, the uvnc_service restart winvnc.exe in the new console session.
The ultravnc viewer solves this by reconnecting in background

Make sure that the following server option is set
When last client disconnect
(*)do nothing
Set the screensaver to lock the screen after x minutes, but don't force a lock on disconnect.

Even on a non ultravnc viewer you should be able to connect in 2 steps
1) logon -> the server switch session to default desktop
2) access to default desktop

The server need to be running as service... else you can not use vnc to logon.
