http connection problems

Post by pbexpresss »

I need to connect to my PC's at the office from a web browser. I have the port numbers setup on my host PC's (Main 3390, HTTP 3389). When I open a web browser (IE7) I type in http://ip-address:3389. The first time I did this Java Runtime installed. Once the installation was complete, I saw the name of the PC on the tab of the open browser window. The browser stopped connecting and the the bar at the bottom of the browser said "Done". Yet the browser window was blank. Nothing displayed at all.

I tried connecting via http within the network and it works fine. I.e. PC1 connects to PC2 behind the firewall perfectly. The browser displays the remote desktop.

My firewall is a 2Wire DSL router/firewall from AT&T. I have setup each PC with a service opening the corresponding port in the firewall.

Any ideas why I can't see the desktop in my browser on the remote PC?

mght need to forward the ports in your AT&T firewall to the server you are connecting too if it works in the lan and not over the internet that is the problem

Thanks for the reply. I did find a link on www.uvnc.com to a site that gives detailed instructions for setting up the port forwarding in my 2Wire router/firewall. As it turns out I had the TCP setup but not the UDP.

I'm up and running now. However, I noticed that the connection is very slow. I've got a DSL connection through AT&T at 3MB speed. Any suggestions?

you never need udp only two ports for the java the main port and the java port must be port forward and enabled.

Try changing the amount of colors and install the mirror driver on the server machine
