After interrupted installation -> can´t log on

Post by abi »

Hi,
I tried to change from RealVNC to UltraVNC. I just started the UltraVNC Setup. I checked the MS Login. And during the installation my existing RealVNC Server shut down (but I have not checked the start UltraVNC Service. So i thought i can run the RealVNC Session until I restart the server). I have no physical access to the server and i couldn´t establish a vnc connection. So I used a reset mechanism of my provider. It worked and I hav a new logon window. The window based on MS Logon (user and password). But I haven´t configured any user yet (as you remember, the connection of my vnc session was closed during the installation).
So i tried the user i have on the machine.

"Administrator" and password
"MYMACHINE/Administrator" and password

I also tried an empty user and the old RealVNC password.
Nothing worked. Is there any chance to connect to the server? Isn´t there some "default" user i can use?

Thx for your help.
Andi

is this mslogon I or II ("New MS-Logon")?
With mslogon I all members of the local Administrators group should have access.
With mslogon II there are no default users.

@marscha: I checked the checkbox during the installation, so it has to be mslogon II. Does that mean there is no chance and i have to force a sysadmin to go there physically? :-)

@redge: I have tried the vncpwd, but it always tells me, that i can´t connect to the remote host vncpwd /h:.... /u:Arbeitsgruppe\Administrator /p:****** /v:mypwd

If you have somehow access to the registry of the remote computer you could deactivate ms-logon and use the classic vnc authentication.
I think that Tightvnc and UltraVNC use the same keys for classic auth so you could use the old passwd.

You have to set HKLM\Software\ORL\WinVNC3\MSLogonRequired to 0 to deactivate mslogon.
