MS logon will not work

Post by kickskass »

I have followed all instructions I could find on MS logon. I added my login name to the list, and I login using: COMPUTER_NAME\Username as the login, then my MS password as the password. I have tried several different variations on the login, but no luck. Thanks.

MS-Logon I --> OK over windows XP home and professional

MS-Logon II --> NOK windows XP home
MS-Logon II fail on Windows XP Home. (limited version of XP Home, only home network usage, not business)

MS-Logon II --> OK over windows XP professional

LAN or WAN network workgroup (if there no domain)
need manual change forceguest=0 on registry of host computer.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa]
"forceguest"=dword:00000000
Marscha wrote: Under Windows XP, the ForceGuest registry value is set to 1 by default in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
On a Windows XP computer you must check:
If the Guest account is enabled, an SSPI logon will succeed as Guest for any (!) user credentials.
If ForceGuest is disabled (set to 0), SSPI will log on as the specified user.
So set ForceGuest to 0.

With MSLogon I, you cannot use fully qualified name (Computername\Username), just use the Username.

hmmm...

hhmmm.... well right now I can't even get it to work using the classic login (I already posted on the "general help" section). Once I get that working, I will come back to this post and see if I can figure it out. I'm not a programmer, so I'm a little unsure what some of the strings you guys wrote above mean... are they registry entries? if so, where in the registry do I enter them?
