The reason I wanted to use this is becuase the directx support and screen refresh is supposed to be great on the LAN. But, if I have to initate the remote from the server all the time it is of little use to me ...

I only want to use my local network at the moment. I have no firewall on the server. It is not that. I need to know what that error message states.
