Re: Does SC work with SecureVNCPlugin?

Thanks again Rudi! :) Could you please fix the online-creator link so I/we can test - just stalls and finally errors out with "too long to respond". The stable/old online-creators has same issue I also see now. Btw, if not already, then please make new online-creator let exe request UAC on start ...

Re: Does SC work with SecureVNCPlugin?

Thank you so much Rudi, I/we appreciate it for sure! :) Indeed filesize are completely irrelevant these days, well atleast in the sizes we're talking here. Btw, you stated this here, back in first quarter of 2015: We use the old plugin to keep it general. SC was already modified to work with the new ...

Re: Does SC work with SecureVNCPlugin?

https://forum.ultravnc.net/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=27633#p84447 Besides the above, which workarounds using a many year old SC version, then I believe you can make newest SC and use with securevnc by repacking it yourself, but it won't be signed however. I wish Rudi would fix this many year old issue of ...

Securevnc home-roll.

Rudi, I believe I once read you said that securevnc plugin support was added but just not yet for the online-creator. Did I misunderstand this, and so if not, can I then use securevnc if I just build the 7z sfx myself and is there some other points to note, e.g what should key files be named and is ...

Re: 2 times vnc server in taskmanager on silent host

Rudi, humble bump about the question asked in post above. I just tested it yet again, and I remembered correct in that the "server only "silent"" option of the inno-setup installer doesn't disable the system-tray icon, and also doesn't hide a connection made, visually i.e. the icon goes yellow as ...

Re: x11vnc and DSM plugins

I have exact same issue, and tried troubleshoot for a month but gotten nowhere and sadly ssvnc isn't in development since 2011 :( I love ssvnc, and have tested that most ultravnc-related still works i.e. file-transfer, chat, n/1 scalling etc, but I also cannot get encryption to work :( Granted I use ...

Re: Stop property page & display Icon during silent install

Yes, sorry I see I wasn't clear about this previously! If not wanting to use the ultravnc GUI to change passwords, then you can also copy setpasswd.exe in addition to the ultravnc.ini into the folder to have ultravnc be installed into, and then before install run "setpasswd.exe PASSWORD", or just ...

Re: 2 times vnc server in taskmanager on silent host

Sorry Rudi :) I'm talking about the IS installer, which during install lets you select in addition to "Server only", also "Server only "silent"". I checked it once, and the systray icon still was enabled, and I also knew there where a systray-disabling option already, so no need for such an install ...

LOL! Good one :) I find it very valuable, also for others than just the OP i'm sure, to get to learn more about what's actually going on. Sorry for stupid question, but as the thread is about the "silent" server, and so not completely off-topic, then could you please explain what this "silent ...

Re: 2 times vnc server in taskmanager on silent host

Yes, restart service only refers to right now and not about at windows boot and isn't related to the two icons in task-manager. As fresh install you want it started, and as an update you wan't it restarted, hence the option. A service means running the app in the background(like on *nix as a daemon ...

Re: Stop property page & display Icon during silent install

You don't have to answer the previous questions. The answer to your question is that if using a valid password generated by ultravnc(either direct or through setpaswd.exe), so 18 chars long, then the password will be retained, if found in the INI, during install. Hope this helps, and sorry if I wasn ...

You're right, it did this for me too, sorry. Re: 2 times vnc server in taskmanager on silent host

Many apps use multiple processes, it's very common, also used in tightvnc - I can't remember if that uses 2 or three. Don't worry about it - the non-silent server does the same. It's possibly the service and "control-app" in systray that's separated. Restarting the service simply means to stop the ...

Re: Stop property page & display Icon during silent install

It works for me in my tests, also with x86 installer. Re: Stop property page & display Icon during silent install

You're very welcome! :) I tested it again with the 32 bit EXE installer(very first in the download list), though I used my own INF this time(generated with a run first with /saveinf=uvnc.inf) and i'm testing in a win10 VM, so not win7 like you, but shouldn't matter I think. Yes, the command to run ...

Thanks Rudi for clarification - I did before making my reply-post to the OP, test making an empty folder with the OP's ultravnc.ini which had a password set already + other settings, and then install silent the IS installer with the OP's INF, I just changed the path to the english "standard" one ...

Sorry, can only answer some of your questions, but i'm sure others will chime in additionally :) I've done alot of testings and research, and imho, ultravnc is the premiere vnc solution for windows, hands down. Re: Stop property page & display Icon during silent install

What i'd do, is run the installer with "/VERYSILENT /loadinf=UltraVNC.inf" and then copy over your ultravnc.ini to the installed folder and restart the service. You can automate it fully from a batchfile, if you cannot do it yourself, I can whip one up for you. Btw, I tested the above command with ...

Solved: Workaround for surviving reboot with SC.

With the [DIS_UAC] option added of later SC versions, the only small gripe I had with it(SC), was the inability of surviving a reboot of remote machine and so having to make the person you're helping initiate the connection again afterwards. I found a solution now finally, well, rather a workaround ...

Solved: Ultravnc SC very slow from linux viewer.

To avoid this slowness, then use ssvncviewer from ssvnc package from Karl Runge, and run it with '-nopipeline -listen'. Tested with win10 and all the SC versions, of course the latest is preferred as using DD so fastest, but before this fix it was unbearable, with 30 sec delays between clicks ...

I'm sorry, I cannot help really with repeater and whatnot other options, sorry... Re: Port Forwarding

Hmm, sorry, I don't know if the reason is that the port is blocked by verizon? Could well be... Yes, it matters if the server is running or not - a port only lists OPEN when the port is forewarded properly AND something is actively listening for it, so with the tests you need to have the server ...

Re: Port Forwarding

No, it doesn't matter the naming, solely port number and type(TCP). Yes, unless wanting to change them from default, then 5900 for server, and 5500 for reverse-connections with ultravnc regular or SC version, as you stated. No, you don't need to foreward port 5800 if not using the servers internal ...

I thought only the remote-end(them) had forewarding issues, sorry. If the local-end(you)also is firewalled/nat'ted, then luckily ultravnc also supports this scenario, through it's repeater option: http://www.uvnc.com/products/uvnc-repeater.html

Sorry, it started around a year ago where people complained about it, and there where issued a couple of updates, which worked for some, but the thread still has complaints. Re: Port Forwarding

Ultravnc supports reverse connections, for situations where the remote-user cannot open required ports themselves. The remote user can do it manually if given your IP/URL, or you can e.g. add this command to there ultravnc.ini "-autoreconnect -connect <IP/URL>" and then you can connect to them, when ...

Re: Cant connect to server

No, there's no port-forwarding with the modem, only the router in your modem/router through it's web-interface. In denmark that modem/router + it's newer version gave many people problems with portforwarding, but a user emailed sagem for new/better firmware and they stated it wasen't them but the ...

v1.2.1.7 bug - Querying incoming connections.

I believe i've found a bug in latest stable release. Server is running under win10-home-x64(1709), as service, with everything as per default, except adding a password and setting the option for querying incoming-connections. I've tested two different viewers under linux, and they both got ...
