In my similar case, viwer side "-noauto" option cure the problem.
I'm using, "vncviewer -noauto -8greyColors -encoding tight".
(Yes, this setting is for very slooow connection)

I just found easy way to stop Aero.
If you are admin, on command prompt
"net stop uxsms" turn off aero in a few seconds.
"net start uxsms" will turn back.
I don't know this is safe, but I know it works.
Is it dangerous?

Every day, I heavily use ScreenShare(OSX 10.5.6) with UltraVnc(XP, Win98) without problem. I use rather old UltraVNC (1.0.0 build Jun 25 2005 23:55:33), without DSM PlugIn, via LAN(100M/1G) and its very stable. I suspect version of dsmPlugins are not the same between two VNC releases.
Try to unify the plugin version.
In theory, different version dsmPlugin can connect each other, but sometimes can't.
