@gneuner: With 1.4.3.6, it is solved?
So far no problems, but I've been on 1.4.3.6 for only a couple weeks.
Fingers crossed.

@gneuner: Have you tried with UltraVNC 1.4.2.0?
It has been solved?
Hi,
I tried 1.4.0.9 which was the latest release at the time (1.4.0.10 was still on the developer channel).
It did solve the slow connect but created another problem on a different machine: occasionally it refuses to connect ...

In the log we translated the ip by the dns name, but is seems to take upto 20 seconds to get the dns answer.
This is removed in the later versions ( current you can download 1.4.0.10 via the forum)
Thanks, I will give a newer version a try.

Hi,
In addition you might want to check your DNS configuration. You were referring to a server machine. Those should usually not only have a forward-DNS but also a reverse-DNS entry.
I was referring to the UVNC server/service to distinguish from the viewer client. These machines all are ...

Hi,
I use UVNC to administer several machines. Since upgrading to 1.4.0.6 (from 1.3.8.1), I suddenly have one LOCAL server that takes a significantly long time to respond to a connect request. Once the connection is established it works fine.
The problem server and viewer both are on wired network ...

Windows Firewall?
All the machines use Avast - Windows firewall is disabled.
So far I can't find anything to explain this. My one "outside the box" thought is that perhaps jumping directly from 1.2.4.0 to 1.3.8.1 introduced some instability on some of the machines. [I've done big jumps like ...

Just had another 1.3.8.1 machine stop responding. I tried the 1.3.9dev5 viewer as suggested with no luck ... it fails just as 1.3.8.1 does.
I had the user verify with tcpview that the server was listening. She sent me a screen capture that showed it was active and marked as listening. I don't know ...

It looks like it's not longer listening on port 5900 or whatever you use.
*Is the viewer still working local, can you connect to localhost
Unfortunately, I didn't think to try a loopback connection. I keep that disabled normally because some people have been freaked by the resulting "hall of ...

Hi.
I am using UVNC 1.3.8.1 64-bit to remotely administer a number of Windows 10 machines. In the span of a month I've now had the UVNC service simply stop responding on 2 different machines. Apparently it can occur with no warning ... a machine I could access yesterday did not respond today.
The ...

Hi all,
re: Windows 7 home [server and client], UltraVNC 1.2.2.1
I've noticed that the viewer process does not always exit after the window closes. After I finish a session sometimes find I have a "zombie" viewer process left over: I can see it in Process Explorer, but it has no window.
On a ...

But does it work with the firewall on? Can't very well turn off protection.

Just tested the 1.2.2.1 on a server 2008R2 this should more or less act as win7
That seems to work and i can connect running uvnc as service. ( after some firewall issue's)
Using the default ini

The crash was caused by the keepalive messages sended by the server.

Not sure I understand - hasn't keepalive been in UVNC for a while? 1.2.1.2 has settings for it. And isn't keepalive a standard mechanism? Repeat the last ACK'd TCP ...

Update:
I tried 1.2.2.1 using both 64-bit viewer and 64-bit server. The viewer appears stable when used with its own server. It still crashes when connected to a 1.2.1.7 server.
However, the 1.2.2.1 server does not seem to work on Win7 unless a user is logged in. I did install it as a service and ...

Meantime 1.2.2.1 has been pre-release
I downloaded the 1.2.2.1 pre-release. I have only looked at the viewer so far, but it still does not respect saved connection settings [even ones it saved itself]. It auto selects "best settings" every time.
On a 64-bit client the viewer crashes immediately ...

i can't repeat it...
Does it also crash when you keep the viewer open and don't do anything in the window.
Does the server has some screensaver active?
My vncviewer 1.2.1.7 on a 64-bit host crashes frequently. It happens after a minute or so regardless of being minimized. It's all but unusable ...
