PCHW on Vista?
Hello I use UltraVNC in a very simple context: the user I want to help has his PC located behind a firewall, and I launch the Viewer in listen mode on my PC and tell the user to download and run the UVNC server so that it dials out and connects to my Viewer. From experience, I noticed that the ...

Re: Building a login-free PCWH?
Thanks, I was able to successfully have a Vista user connect to my viewer. One thing we noticed, though: She was using MSN to tchat with us during the session, and we noticed that after closing the PCHW session, the keyboard layout in MSN was changed from FR to EN, while Notepad was fine. Looks like ...

Re: Building a login-free PCWH?
Thanks much for the tip. I built a login-free server, and will try to test it with a Vista user today. One last question, though: Which EXE is the viewer that I must launch like UVNC's "vncviewer.exe /listen"? "C:\Downloads\UltraVNC PCHW 1.0\PcHelpWare_viewer.exe" "C:\Downloads\UltraVNC PCHW 1.0 ...

Building a login-free PCWH?
Hi I'm learning how to build a PCWH equivalent to SC so that Vista users can connect out for help. I read the Step-by-step PDF which shows how to build the PCWH server, but when launching the output EXE, the user is presented with a login/password screen, which I'd rather not have. Someone in a ...

[PCHW] Confused about ZIP files
Hello So it seems like SingleClick can't work reliably in Vista, and the alternative is PCHelpWare. I'm confused about what the three ZIP files do in the Download section: PCHelpware Release 1.0 - Zip archive 1SCVDLL.dll and 1SCDLL.dll patch for PCHelpware Release 1.0 - Zip archive PCHelpware server ...

Re: Someone using Vista and SingleClick successully?
Thanks for the tips, but users aren't computer-savvy and run their computers in non-admin mode, so asking them to fidget with Aero is not possible. So if SC doesn't work out of the box on Vista... can someone tell me what PCHelpware is, and does it provide the same ease of deployment of SC? We need ...

Someone using Vista and SingleClick successully?
Hello I had no reply to my posts about the issue I'm having when using a SingleClick version of the UVNC server on a Vista host that connects out to a VNC viewer running on XP. I doubt I'm the only one using SC since it's the only way to avoid 1) opening firewalls and 2) having the user run an ...

[SC/1.0.5.3] Vista server + XP viewer = very slow
Hello I used the SingleClick option to create a small, single file server that our customers can just download and connect out to a viewer on our support host here which is waiting for connections with the "/listen" switch. When the server and the viewer are both running XP, it works fine, but I'm ...

Don't know, but I wish they had ran regression tests before updating the SC compiler. I need to generate a new SC server for customers this week.Tano wrote:Then suggest trying with version 1.0.4 RC5 Beta? Or as another version?

Re: How to connect to remote computer?
How to connect to remote computer? Not a stupid question at all. Stupid questions are those never asked. Unlike other remote control apps, with VNC, you have the choice of which PC initiates the connection: - by default, the server (ie. the PC you want to drive from a remote PC) is launched, and ...

Is SC broken?
Since most people are in this section of the forum, I'll ask again: Is the current SC broken? I'm not the only one who can no longer connect out to a viewer after building a new UVNC server through the SC online compiler.
See the SC section for more information.
Thanks.

Re: Connection dialog displayed... and then closes itself
FWIW, I created a new EXE and tried it on the LAN between two hosts, and I get the same error. I'm using the Viewer 1.0.2. Here's the input text file: [TITLE] Support Acme [HOST] Support PC -connect 192.168.0.1:5500 -noregistry [TEXTTOP] Double-click to connect [TEXTRTOP] Support Acme ...

Connection dialog displayed... and then closes itself
Hello I'm using SC to have customers connect out to the viewer. Re: Launching viewer in listen mode at boot time?
Seems like there's no need for a batch file: Just create a key in the Registry in the Run section, and add the following:fredtheman wrote:I'd like the VNCViewer to be launched in listen mode automatically on all support hosts.
"c:\Program Files\UltraVNC 1.0.2\vncviewer.exe" -listen

Launching viewer in listen mode at boot time?
Hello
I'd like the VNCViewer to be launched in listen mode automatically on all support hosts.
Is there a better way than creating a batch file with just "c:\vncviewer.exe /listen", and including it in either the Registry's Run section or the user's Start folder?
Thank you.

Re: [1.0.1] Three issues
2. On the client, I cannot close the server OK, found it: I though the "-autoreconnect" switch was just meant to leave the WinVNC server running even after a connection ended. Didn't know it made it impossible for the client to close the connection nicely. That leaves the other two. If someone has ...

Hello I just performed a test with someone running XP, and we experienced three problems (server on XPSP2, client on W2KSP4; client listens, server connects to client to avoid the firewall issue): 1. You need to “run” the viewer first…and THEN GIVE it your parameters… OK, works better that way :-) (and, I assume you use a api shell to “wait” until the command is done….). Incidently, I was wondering how to wait for a Shell-ed command to finish, possibly telling me how it went, before moving on to ...

No existing instance of WinVNC could be contacted?
Hello I'm writing an applet in VB Classic that shells to winvnc.exe using the -connect switch to dial out to the viewer. Problem is, I get the error message above. Does I need to first install the WinVNC server as a Windows service before being able to dial out? I'd like to avoid this because some ...

[viewer] Why is it listening on TCP 5400?
Hi
I see that when the viewer is launched with /listen, it listens on ports TCP 5500 and 5400.
I understand 5500 is the default port for WinVNC so need to add port forwarding on the router to let servers connect in, but what about 5400? Do I need this too?
Thx
Fred.

Quick description of UVNC?
Hi I need to add remote control to our apps so that customers can simply click on a button, and have WinVNC connect out though the Internet over broad-band connections to a viewer running on one of our support hosts.
