Yes!

:D

That was it! I've disabled the http module and all is now well... thanks Bevtech!

Now I'm sure there was some essential program that I had to enable IIS for, just can't remember what it was! Any ideas?

Cheers,

Bill.

Nope, I've tried clearing out the whole notification tray, unless there's something hidden taking up those ports that's not the problem...

New to the MS thing...

Okay I can login fine WITHOUT the MS login turned on - however when I turn it ON I can still login ok but I CANNOT see the screen! If I log in with remote desktop top before I make the VNC connection, I CAN see the screen! bizarre... I've added 'Administrators' to the logins bit with all rights, and ...

Using ports 80/443

I want to use these ports to get past the hyperactive firewall at work, but at home the UltraVNC server refuses to use these ports! When I select them, hovering over the server icon gives a 'not listening' response, if I check the settings again, 'Accept incoming connections' is unticked... This ...

Also - I now remember the other problem I ran into - I could not get UltraVNC server to LISTEN on port 80 or 443... it would just go offline when I set either of those ports.

Higher ports seemed to be ok - bit of a strange one...

Superturtle - MANY thanks for your detailed reply - and apologies for taking so long to get back to you! I really do appreciate yuor help! In the end after spending hours fooling around with this, I gave up - it seems the firewall at work is ULTRA cautious on this kind of thing, and I only get one ...

I have this same problem. UltraVNC seems to only want to go into 'listening' mode if I use certain ports. I want to set it to ports 80 and 443 so I can get past my workplace's firewall, but when I try those ports no's the section gets 'greyed out' and UltraVNC won't go into 'listening' mode. Any ...

Is there a security risk opening port 80? I'll have to forward it through my router. If I allowed 80 in but mapped it to a different internal port (some random port I use fro VNC), would that mess up my web browsing?

Thanks!

Alternative ports for Viewer

The college I work at has a hyperactive firewall that blocks outgoing VNC and remote desktop connections, so I haven't currently been able to find a way to connect to my box at home. Can I change the outgoing port for VNC or RD so I can sneak it past their firewall? use the http port or something ...
