Re: TeamViewer - Free Desktop sharing

You already got the answer: Contact Teamviewer-Support. I once sent an email and they answered within 1 day. It was a very fast answer and they have a very simple and fast product. If I had a big company I would definately choose to buy this product. :) PS: No, I'm not linked to that company in any ...

Re: Is there an introduction to the different codecs?

Isn't TIGHT the best choice in general for internet connections?

Maybe the integrated codecs (or the offered choices within the GUI) can be reduced to about 3 choices?
Like TIGHT for normal use over internet, ZYWRLE and hextile?

Is there an introduction to the different codecs?

Is there an introduction to the different codecs? I'm a bit unsure to what codec might be the best. I always use TIGHT but there might be a better one. Maybe some codecs might even be overcome by now and could be removed from the program? [mod=494,1211707709]splitted from feature request to General ...

VNC for mobile phones (JAVA)

I just found this. It only seems to lack a DSM plugin-security but you can use a password:

Re: Why should I use any other but ULTRA performance?

OK, so the two best setting are either ZRLE or TIGHT? I will try ZRLE the next time to see if it is faster than TIGHT.

How can anything be faster than TIGHT? If TIGHT uses the best compression and if the CPU can handle it (and todays CPUs can) it should be the fastet, right?

Re: Why should I use any other but ULTRA performance?

OK,
I did a mistake. ;) I meant to ask why one should use any other but TIGHT.

Today CPU performance should not be no problem anymore so is there any reason not to choose the best compression even for fast ADSL lines?

Re: TeamViewer - Free Desktop sharing

Wow, this is awsome! If you have ever spend some hours setting up and testing 'SingleClick' you really enjoy this very simple but secure way of connecting two computers! The setup is a breeze because one doesn't need to setup anything. :) The only little drawback is that you depend on the TeamViewer ...

Why should I use any other but ULTRA performance?

I just wondered why one should choose any other setting but ULTRA? As far as I understood it's by far the fastet and has no disadvantages.

So why are the other settings (Zlib, ZRLE, etc.) included at all?

Re: Connection blinks when connected

It's blinking?
As far as I know it just changes it's color from blue to green once.

I would appreciate it if the UVNC-icon would really blink while the viewer is connected. This way people know the computer is being used and watched via remote. Is it possible to add this feature in the future?

Re: longer password

Why mainting backward compatibility?
And if needed, why not make a checkbox one can uncheck to use more than 8 characters?
There could be a small warning saying:
WARNING: If checkbox is unchecked passwords with up to 64 signs are used but backward compatibility with VNC is broken.

Re: Introduction of New VNC codec

This sounds good to me as I am no expert.
What do the developers of UltraVNC say about this? Is this faster than UltraVNC with tight compression? Does it work with UltraVNC at all?

Re: longer password

If a longer password was implemented UltraVNC could remove MSlogon feature since a longer password is secure enough. This could result in a more secure and less complex (no MSLogon) program. scorp: If someone can run a program that reads the password from the registry and sends it home he might as ...

Does 'Google Earth' run through the viewer with Test 1 or Test 2? The latest stable v1.02 does not run Google Earth with the hook driver.

longer password

I just learned that some other VNC-programs, e.g. RealVNC, support passwords with up to 255 signs.
It would be great if this security feature would be implemented into UltraVNC. If this is only possible with vnc 4.x based software, will you release UltraVNC based on v4?

Re: UltraVNC 1.02 with AES 1.00 plugin crashes

I just tried to use AES v1.00 and it won't work for me, too. I was using ARC before which worked fine. I generated an AESv2.key, put the aesv2.key as well as the AESV2Plugin.dsm file in both program directories (server + viewer) and switched to AES encryption on both machines. I restarted the server ...

'mirror driver' needs to installed seperately?

I read here in the forums that the mirror driver needs to be installed seperately. However after I installed UltraVNC v1.02 I can activate the mirror driver without installing anything special and it is also shown as ACTIVE.

So is it installed within UltraVNC 1.02?
