Re: Can't connect with Java viewer
This just gets odder... I downloaded the standalone viewer and connected to my dad's computer with no problem. So clearly they are not blocking the ports as they said they are. So, something is wrong on my end as I still get the message "Please wait - initial screen loading..." when using the viewer ...

Re: Can't connect with Java viewer
nortons worm protection used to block on of the ports i think it was 5500 because some worms used to use that port.. not sure it if blocked other ports or if it stilll does that anymore.. :| I got into the program rules and found the rules to allow ports 5800 & 5900 specifically. I ran into our IT ...

Re: Can't connect with Java viewer
I'm not familiar with what the worm protection blocks and doesn't block. Maybe another user can help you on that one. If your IT department is now blocking ports 5800 and/or 5900 why do you think they would allow 6000 and/or 6100? I was thinking more along the lines of some standard ports that are ...

Re: Can't connect with Java viewer
I tried 6100 and 6000, respectively and changed the port forwarding in my router, but when I try a local test I get a browser error that This address uses a network port which is normally used for purposes other than Web browsing. Firefox has canceled the request for your protection. I run Norton ...

Re: Can't connect with Java viewer
Oh, about the ports - can I use any port numbers not in the scheme of 59xx/58xx? I saw the faq that said to use double colons if I do so.
Thanks for all your help.

Yes, but you said:mattice06082 wrote:The link I provided is all you need for the viewer. That's what you were asking for wasn't it?
I thought you meant I needed to unzip the dll files separately. You only need the exe-file and the zip and unzip dll-files.

Re: Can't connect with Java viewer
They may have changed their IT policy. You can try switching to ports that they allow. I already said what happens. I get the "please wait" screen. I don't recall the entire message, but it's in the FAQ. I'm just trying to help. I didn't understand that by "VNC client" you meant the UltraVNC viewer ...

Re: Can't connect with Java viewer
Ok, this is odd. I tried connecting to another remote computer and then back to my own and I got the logon prompt. Apparently I can only not connect from my work computer?

Re: Can't connect with Java viewer
What happens when you use the UltraVNC viewer? I already said what happens. I get the "please wait" screen. I don't recall the entire message, but it's in the FAQ. Besides, my work IT department made me remove it so I'm limited to the Java viewer. Is there a way to test this locally when I'm on my ...

Re: Can't connect with Java viewer
If you are using the free DynDNS.com service, go to https://www.dyndns.com/ and log in using your username and password on the machine that you're running the viewer on. Select My Services and then Dynamic DNS under Host Level Services . This will show the IP address your myhost.dyndns.org is ...

Can't connect with Java viewer
I used to be able to connect to my home PC from work with no problem. But recently I have been unable to connect. I see my home computer name in the browser title bar but instead of a logon prompt I get an orange Java graphic. I updated my NIC drivers at home yesterday. I was having the problem with ...

Failed to connect to server
I have been using Ultra VNC for quite a while with no problems until recently. Now I keep getting the error "failed to connect to server." The only thing I can think of is that I recently installed free ZoneAlarm. I told ZoneAlarm to allow VNC access to the internet and as a server but it still is ...
