If you are testing this on the computer "next to you" you still need an IP address, but it would be an internal one
some networks are set up to use the ips
192.168.0.2
192.168.0.3
192.168.0.4
others use "192.168.1.xx" numbers

coupla questions
yes, this app is a good idea. But the screenshots in this post are not working, so I don't know what to put in the 3rd and 4th boxes on the startup screen. I entered my IP address and port number, but what about the other boxes?

debugging incoming conn. problem
It seems to me that the steps needed to test if clients can connect to me, through my router, should be outlined here. I drafted a little procedure that might be useful to others. (however in my case I am only at step B).
