I would suggest stunnel, as this will already run as a service. It is a open source, and IMHO has better long term support possuibilities. Zebedee as I recall is maintained by one person, p.s. It is encrypted, but it is trivial to break the encryption. If I remember correctly Ettercap breaks it on the fly.
