UltraVNC

A would like to see a feature that allowed you to drag a file from your computer and then drop it onto the UVNC viewer window. This would initiate a file transfer & place the files onto the remote system's desktop (aka C:\Documents and Settings\username\Desktop).

I have not tried SSL Explorer. About the connection attempts, run UVNC on a non-standard port. Pick something between 10000 and 65500. This will make it somewhat harder for a hacker.

If you picked port 12345 (which I wouldn't recommend), on the client side you would connect by using "myserver:12345 ...

If you want a secure, encrypted UVNC connection, but can not use the msrc4 plugin, try the AES plugin. If this does not work either see my posts in this thread:

I just updated about 20 servers from using an unencrypted connection to an encrypted connection. They all use the same rc4.key file.

Is it true that the end-user side of PCHelpWare must have DirectX installed where as with SC this is not the case?

Dumb question, but did you verify that you are running the same version of UVNC on both the server & client?

The [winvnc] -- what's inside the [] does not really matter. Just make sure they are the same in each config file.

On your VNC client, you will connect to 127.0.0.1:12582. Make sure stunnel is listening on port 12582. You can do this by running this command from the cmd prompt:
netstat -an ...

On the client are you trying to connect (with UVNC) to 127.0.0.1:12582? Also, you need to allow port 12582 through on your router, not port 5900 nor 5800...if the UVNC server is behind the router.

Since you are having a run of bad luck, may I suggest UVNC + stunnel? I have used this combination with great success. Basically, you have stunnel (www.stunnel.org) listening on a local port, say port 23456, on the client side. Tell your vncviewer to connect to 127.0.0.1:23456.

I have written an AutoIt script that emulates the Alt-PrintScreen key press sequence. This executable program has to be located and run on the remote system. Once you run it, you could launch mspaint on the remote system to paste in your window capture.

i've never experienced this... they've always troubleshoot over phone or sent in a tech for the most part that i've seen.

Maybe you have to have Gold support or something like this. We have a Dell based EMC SAN in which they will logon to your system and help you.

I doubt they do this for non ...

I didn't see anyone mentioning www.webex.com. Whenever we call support from large companies, like Dell, they always seem to use this service.

When creating your executable, did you use an internal ip, like 192.168.x.y or did you use your real internet IP address? If you used your real address, you might not be able to test within your LAN.

When I posted this, I was thinking that the user would be connected through a VPN tunnel. SC also works well just within the office. We put a link to the sc executable on our intranet home page.

Don't use those ports numbers. Try using a random port in the 50,000 to 65,000 range. Generally, proxies only intercept traffic on well known ports like 80 and 8080. You also might try port 443.
