Yes, We used to see this issue a lot on older (1.0.6.5, 1.0.8.2, 1.0.9.x) versions.. It still happens for us on 1.1.9.6, but much less frequently.. Guessing that it is a race condition of some type? On the older versions, it seemed to happen frequently when we closed a maximized 16 bit application..

The servers that lock with viewer 1.1.8.9 will connect with an older viewer simultaneously..?? Let me do more homework on this..

I should point out that all these machines are running XP.. (which it appears your test is too)
I will try to find a server that you can log in to that doesn't work..

We are encountering this as well, but also other issues with the newer versions.. There seem to be problems in both viewer and server?? (1 and 2 below are not a new server, 3 fails with an old viewer)
