Installed 1.1.6_x64 over 1.1.5_x64 on my Windows 8 64 machine.

Programs and features says 1.1.6 is installed.

But "About WinVNC" -- still says 1.1.5 (build: Nov 11 15:58:00)

Viewer -- says x64 1.1.6

When I downloaded the 1.1.5 64bit setup.exe to my Windows 8 desktop, Windows Defender is still flagging the installer with a "Medium" alert level.

Have you (Rudi) reported this to Microsoft to get them to ease up on the alert?

I have to set up an old Windows 2003 Server here for some very specific software. I have been using 1.1.4 on my WIndows 7 and Windows 8 clients with no problems so far. Is there any chance the "xp" version of 1.1.4 is supported on Windows 2003 Server? If not, is one of the older versions supported?

Unfortunately Microsoft Security Essentials still flags the 1.0.9.6.2 setup.exe file as a potentially unwanted program...

You aren't seeing this with the 1.0.9.6.1_setup.exe?

I just tried it again -- with the 9/19 definitions for Forefront -- and it's still flagging the installer as a "medium" alert.

And Forefront is just the enterprise version of MSE -- it's otherwise identical (or at least it should be...)

by any chance -- is there any way to find out if "Rudi, et. al", reported this issue? I don't (personally) have Microsoft Premiere Support to open a ticket (somebody probably does around here, but it's next to impossible to find out who actually has that ability) and I'd rather not be charged ...

As of today (8-25), Forefront still complains about the 1.0.9.6.1 installer.

Maybe it might get more action if you contacted them about it?

Just tried it again this morning. I'm in the US and tried Safari and Firefox. Tried to download the "Installer Win32". Waited the 10 seconds. Accepted the conditions. And it worked. It didn't work yesterday when I posted that. Whoever fixed things on the back end -- thanks! - Steve
