Re: Connection over internet to a workgroup lan
Did you configure the firewall ports? The address that you would be connecting to would be the IP plus the port you opened. You want to communicate via the WAN IP not the LAN IP. If your WAN IP is dynamic and changing you'll have to subscribe to a dns service. There are a couple of free ones. You ...

Re: Common mistakes with creator tool
Thanks for responding. I think that the main frustrations I read here are folks struggling with what may be simple settings, processes, or versions. Many writing here obviously have a much deeper understanding of VNC and want help to change what is available here (add a different encryption ...

Re: Common mistakes with creator tool
OK, seems this forum has really slowed down on new input so off I went looking for an alternative to SC. I did manage to get one variation of all of its files and settings to work when enlisting a patient tester via phone. I'd rather have had one of my attempts with encryption work but I'm going to ...

Re: Common mistakes with creator tool
I've used SingleClick for years and had everything going well, UNTIL I went from XP to Win7. I installed Uvnc but took the 64bit version, only to find that by help request files would no longer work, as they were made for the 32bit server. So I uninstalled and put the 32bit version on by Win7 64bit ...

Re: Common mistakes with creator tool
Is there a way for me to test my key without distributing the exe file and having someone try it? Nothing is worse than having someone who needs help, implying that they aren't very PC savvy, have problems with what I give them.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: New to Forum, old to SC but now confused
OK, then now the [DIRECT] is working as described, logo shows for about a second then it tries to connect. Now I just have to get one of my needy friends/family members with Vista or Win7 to give it a try. I'm confident (again) that it'll work fine. Thanks all of you who responded.

Re: New to Forum, old to SC but now confused
So these two lines need to be left under [DIRECT] ?
Balloon1 = While trying to connect
Balloon2 = During connection

Re: New to Forum, old to SC but now confused
OK, I'll give that a try. This is exactly what I meant when in the first post I said "those instructions are either incorrect or just unclear". If you download the custom.zip and start to build your SC, you have little instruction on what actually needs to be there. Wouldn't it make more sense that ...

Re: New to Forum, old to SC but now confused
Thanks so much for your reply. I have been using the 2009 compiler and still get no automatic connection by the client side. Does the helpdesk.txt need further modifications, like removing the second (empty) [HOST] entry or moving the [DIRECT] higher in the file? If need be I'd post a copy of mine ...

Re: New to Forum, old to SC but now confused
I say that because I thought it was simple enough but when I've tried it I still get the choices menu presented to the client. All I've done is limit the [HOST] to a single entry, my IP info and everything as it had worked before, and with [DIRECT] at the end of the helpfile.txt (and no entries in ...

Re: New to Forum, old to SC but now confused
I double posted? Only intended the one. Sorry if I did. I'm certain that UVNC SC is working with Win7, have managed to get it to do so, but the process of building a copy, and updating it and modifying it has gotten messy/confusing. The idea of using the single [HOST] (me) and having it connect ...

New to Forum, old to SC but now confused
First off, I've been using Single Click for a few years and it has saved me lots of time (and travel money) helping my friends and family. Thanks for that. But now, as more of them have newer OS (Vista and Win7) I've had to step up for that and the forum has gotten SO involved that I can no longer ...
