Re: Chunk on Windows 7 Home Premium

Okay... I had the user bring the laptop into the office (I was trying to support a remote user). Turns out W7 Home Premium was blocking the file automatically. I sent it via a zip file and it would block and delete the file. I sent it again renamed as InstantSupport.old and she could save it and ...

Re: Chunk on Windows 7 Home Premium

Too funny... I saw both of those pages but thought they were out of context. I was leaning more toward the registry hack as it seemed to help more people. I'll give it a shot and let you know.

Thanks!

Re: Chunk on Windows 7 Home Premium

Sorry, the actual message is: "These files cannot be opened. Your internet settings prevent one or more files from being opened".

Odd to me but hey...

Thanks!

Chunk on Windows 7 Home Premium

Hello, While trying to execute InstantSupport on W7 Home Premium 64bit a window pops up stating Windows won't allow it to run. It refers to security settings in IE? I tried changing these with no luck. I also tried Run as Administrator. No luck. Anyone know what I need to do to run InstantSupport ...

Re: UAC Protected Windows

Hello, This post seems to have gone a different direction. I'm not sure my last question was ever answered. I don't want to install as a service. Your post: "You can just have the end user present to answer the UAC prompts" My post: "Forgive me, but I've never been on the other end... I've asked the ...

Re: UAC Protected Windows

Fogive me, but I've never been on the other end... I've asked the users if they see the red box I am seeing and they say they do not. How do I direct them to "have the end user present to answer the UAC prompts"? This would be prefered over the install/uninstall service but I have not been able to ...

Re: UAC Protected Windows

Thanks. Is installing as a service the only option? One of the things I really like about Chunk is that I can close InstantSupport before I terminate the phone call and I finish up know that nothing is left running on the remote end.

UAC Protected Windows

Hello, I searched the forum on what I believed were good keywords and couldn't find anything that helped. When I connect to Windows 7 machines I often see a red box in the upper left corner stating "UltraWNC running as application doesn't have permission to acces UAC protected windows. This screen ...

Re: Chunk on VMware

Your FAQ states: Can I run InstantSupport on a computer that already has a VNC server running? No, you must shut down the current VNC server before running InstantSupport. Since version 3.2 most but not all VNC servers will be shut down automatically. Does that apply only to InstantSupport? Would I ...

Re: Chunk on VMware

That worked. Thanks. I thought I read somewhere that you had Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package installed if you had run Windows Update. I must have misunderstood.

Thanks for helping me with this.

Sorry, I didn't see your other post. The compile comes back as successful but I'll give that a shot.

Re: Chunk on VMware

Well, I tried it again. As soon as I try to run the repeater from a vm I get a window titled "Ultr@vnc Property Page". I click OK at the bottom of that page and I get another window stating "WARNING: Running VNC without setting a password is dangerous...". I have to cancel several times to get it to ...

Chunk on VMware

Hello, Is it possible to run Chunk on a virtual machine? I've been testing on a regular machine and everything works great. I tried to test with the repeater running on a virtual machine and I get a wierd "not safe to run without password set" error when I try to make the InstantSupport connection ...

Re: Brief explaination of security

Thanks. I believe you answered my question. My two main concerns are if the password you enter when connecting via ChunkViewer and any password you may enter after making the connection (ie. login password for another system, etc.) are both enrypted. Based on your response I believe the answer is ...

Brief explaination of security

Hello, I'm new to Chunk but I've got to say, it's pretty cool... Best thing I've seen for VNC in a long time. I've searched the forum but haven't found anything that clearly explains the security aspects of Chunk. Any chance you can explain based on order of execution which parts of Chunk are secure ...
