Re: New modified repeater
I think it's probably as good as dead. PCHelpware has done that. I'm sure we'd be interested in more development of the PCHelpware repeater. I'd love to have it in my Linksys router!

Re: Dumb question about GUI maker
Thanks for the reply. I actually have my SC screen made up already (Using the GUI tool from a previous beta), but was just curious why the GUI tool was removed in 1.0. I found it very helpful, especially for updating, and much easier than fighting with the Helpdesk.txt file directly. I also wanted ...

Dumb question about GUI maker
I'm glad to see PCHW is now 1.0! In the Beta versions, there was a GUI that would let you make your own SC server easier. That seems to be gone with 1.0. Should I just try and find it in an older Beta version? Was it left out on purpose? This seems like an obvious issue, but I'm surprised nobody's ...

Re: Which SC is the most mature?
Thanks for the help.
I can't help but notice the PCHelpware repeater looks almost identical to the SC repeater, except for SSL Port 443. Is the PCHelpware repeater compatible with VNC/SC? If not, can I run both SC and PCHelpware repeaters, changing ports?

Which SC is the most mature?
I'm still using the original SC, and it is getting long in the tooth. I'd like to upgrade, but I'm not sure whether to go with SCII, SCIII, or PCHelpware. Can someone tell me their experience with these? Which one is the most stable? Features-wise, it looks like all three will work for me. Stability ...

Re: A Very very very basic question....
I think it's real slimy that commercial developers take VNC, pretty it up, and sell it as their own product. I suppose it's better to have a decent SC with no source, than an old buggy SC with source, which only developers debug, then keep for themselves... So, is there a PCHelpdesk FAQ? Is it ...

A Very very very basic question....
Where is the latest version of SC? The download link from the online creator all has filedates from 2004. SCIII discussions are apparently closed. I'd think it's dead, then Rudi posts a file called PCHelpware. Maybe I should be asking what the latest SC is called? Does anyone have an actual link to ...

Is SC III the latest version of SC? I was under the impression that SCIII was much different than SCII. Can SCIII be used the same way as SCII?

Has SC Been updated?
After finding what I THINK is the latest SC source code, it looks like it hasn't been updated in over 14 months. I would have assumed that at least some of the 1.00 enhancements would have made their way into SC. Is SC dead? Is the source code I found simply 14 months old? Is SCIII getting all the ...

There are MUCH better tools for kids wanting to control their friend's computers. It's nowhere near stealthy enough, and all it takes is a slip of the mouse for a victim to notice something is up. While I agree it's good to keep VNC below the radar of Antivirus companies, it's also important that SC ...

I prefer running with options on the command line as well. I haven't experimented a lot, but seems to work fine, and doesn't leave a helpdesk.txt to clean up. One clue I'm following is looking at the system wallpaper. Using a repeater, the only clue I can find that it's actually connected is that ...

YES! That's a wonderful idea! I could be wrong, but I think I asked for that years ago. I'm currently writing a program that launches SC, tries to determine when/if it connects, and kills/restarts it if needed. I'm having a nightmare of a time making things work, and making them reliable. It would ...

Making a Virtual VGA driver with VNC.
It just occured this afternoon that it would be very handy for embedded computers without a VGA adapter to actually have one. With an embedded computer, a VNC monitor might actually be desirable. Has anyone done a verson if VNC that will act like a monitor? I'm guessing VNC server wouldn't work on a ...

I'd also like to see the ability of the repeater to record sessions as well. Very frequently, I have reason to want to know what I did in a certain situation. Also, it would be a nice CYA feature, in case a customer tries to claim I did something I didn't, and it would be nice to have a record. I ...

I could understand not wanting SC to install itself as a service, and permanently forever keep trying to connect, but I think it makes perfect sense for it to reconnect until one of the two parties stops it on purpose. While I can't speak for anyone by myself, personally I'd like to see the ability to extend the time indefinitely. It's often difficult to schedule a time, within 5 minutes. It would be SO much easier if a customer could simply run SC when they get to it, and I'll run my client when I get to it, and ...

Disabling server's mouse.
From time to time, I'm working on a customer's computer, and they (Or their kids/cat/etc..), for whatever reason, start moving the mouse around. This makes it impossible to work on their computer, and it's awkward to tell the customer to leave the !@#$%^& mouse alone. If it's already a feature, I ...

I remember there was a script, possibly VBS, Or maybe just a batch file, that would do this. Unfortunately, it was pulled for some reason. I'd love to see that myself. UltraVNC ---> Linux
Personally, I don't think a port of UltraVNC to Linux is the best idea (Why hire Tiger Woods to coach a Football team? The best VNC flavor in Windows won't necessarily make the best Linux VNC). I was wondering if anyone knew of a VNC server that worked in Linux, and would work with the repeater (ID ...

Dynamic encryption key.
With normal UltraVNC, when you normally 'trust' the remote computer, there's no issue with physical access to the key. However, if you put this key in a self-extracting archive, and send it out to many people, some of which you may not know personally (Or perhaps put it on a website for all to DL ...
