Blanking of local screen and disabling local inputs?
I usually have the host running UltraVNC automatically blank the local screen and disable local inputs. In the 1.2.1.5 version I have noticed that while the disabling of local keyboard/mouse works, the automatic blanking of the local screen feature no longer works. Am I missing a feature in either ...

Re: Disconnects on idle or randomly?
Nothing? I found the setting in "C:\Program Files\uvnc bvba\UltraVNC\ultravnc.ini named "IdleTimeout" but it doesn't seem to have an y effect. The screens just randomly log out.

Disconnects on idle or randomly?
I've recently upgraded to UltraVNC 1.2.1.1 and its Extras on the Windows 7 machines on my network. I've noticed that after a period of time clients that are connected to these hosts get disconnected. There is no warning. It seems to happen if the client is idle after 5 minutes or so. Is there a ...

Re: Always hextile connecting to localhost?
I think an adjustment to "Auto" to add an option to honor "Auto" even when going to localhost is better than adding extra layers of complexity. I'll have a look at the source to see what's really happening.

Re: UltraVNC vs. Microsoft Forefront
Yes, MS Security Essentials is reporting the same thing. I have never used MS Forefront but I know for a fact that MS Security Essentials is directly derived from Forefront. Whether they use the same definitions files or not I cannot say.B wrote:I wonder if MS Security Essentials is doing this too.

Re: LogMeIn Needs Admin Rights
This is also true of LogMeIn "Ignition" which is supposed to be able to run from a USB thumb drive. It still requires Administrator priviledges, defeating the whole purpose of that product.

Always hextile connecting to localhost?
I have several SSH tunnels that I connect to remote hosts with. I have UltraVNC set up for "Auto select best settings" but it never changes from "hextile" encoding. Is this because the viewer is hard-coded not to use better-performing encodings when connected to localhost? If so, how can this ...

Do not apply JPEG to text areas
I found this feature in another remote desktop software package a long time ago but its name escapes my memory. What it does is not apply JPEG to text areas but applies it everywhere else. In this way, the ClearType and FreeType sub-pixel font rendering pixels are undisturbed by JPEG. At the present ...

Lossless JPEG or No JPEG encoding
The Ultra and Ultra2 encodings are amazing. I can see videos over a WAN. What I would like to know is how we could use Ultra/Ultra2 with either JPEG turned off or JPEG at "perceptually lossless" mode. This is a new encoding concept done by the TurboVNC/TigerVNC developers. Right now when I un-check ...

Re: Crashes on first login attempt
Update: The problem has cleared itself up. Thanks again.aegrotatio wrote:Okay I'll give it a try.
I'm still trying to isolate the server crashes vs. client crashes. I will explicitly set the mode upon login and keep an eye on it.
Thanks.

Linux version of UltraVNC client?
Has anyone tried building the UltraVNC client for Linux?
I'd like to do this somehow. The usual VNC clients I have on Linux fail to show the local cursor among other problems when connecting to an UltraVNC host.
Thanks.

Crashes on first login attempt
I'm using 1.0.8.2. The client is Windows Vista. The server is Windows XP Pro. The port is 5910. I am using "Auto" and all the default settings. The server is running as a service. The first two or three times I try to login, the server immediately crashes and disconnects. The third time I get my ...
