Yes - that would do the job, if I could greatly reduce the screen resolution on connection. I'll play around with that soon, and see how that works. I just changed host machines, and it will take a few days to get VNC server set up on my new win7 machine. Thanks for the suggestion, it is a good one ...

Thanks. yeah, I knew about being able to do that. I need an actually smaller desktop - everything on your host, scaled down is really small. I can scroll, but then when you launch a program, you have to hunt it down to see it. I guess this just isn't a possibility right now. OK on linux though. Mike

Possible to have a virtual monitor?

on windows (XP or 7): On the server the monitor is quite large (2 monitors, each 1680 x 1040). On typical client, 1 monitor, 1024 x 768. Is it possible to make the server think that there is a smaller desktop, so that the client sees the whole (reduced size) desktop? Scrolling isn't working too well ...
