Re: slow on vista

with the DFMirage mirror driver: http://www.demoforge.com/dfmirage.htm This combo works awesome for me on Vista Just a note from the developer: The DFMirage package was recently updated to include support for all newest Windows 7 / 2008 R2 64-bit platforms. So it works really well on all Windows ...

Re: Screencasting Ultra VNC Mirror Driver

The thing is -- I have *NO* ideea whatsoever how to interface the Mirror driver. I have never done anything like that in the past. Any help, documentation, samples -- anything is greatly appreciated. I need to know something very simple. How to interface the driver (what function -- how to do it ...

Re: Logging activity

If you're talking about Windows servers only, you'd better take a look at the products specifically designed for Windows Server OSes, like RecordTS.

Also, you can enable firewall-based logging to log connection attempts to the specific network port.

Re: Recording remote session required by user

I never heard about any recorders for VNC except vnc2swf (does it work on Windows, by the way?)

A similar product (RecordTS) exists for Terminal Server/Citrix environments though. Also, there are a lot of desktop-based screen capture utilities in the market.

Re: Mirror Driver and User rights on Windows

You don't need admin rights provided that you adjusted special permissions on certain registy keys beforehand. I'm not sure about UltraVNC driver, but for DFMirage the reg path is: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\Current\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\dfmirage Just grant r/w ...

Re: multiple VNC non-shared connection

It's technically unfeasible to implemenent what you want without using Terminal Server.

It's not true, mirror drivers can be signed for 2000/XP/2003.
We did it many times.

Is it some kind of a mirror driver? If not, how it is related to the subject?

I don't think that it's possible to support DirectX in a mirror driver because of numerous technical reasons. Sorry, but it's better to abandon this idea completely. Not to mention that $500 is NOTHING even for initial research in this area.

For the silent installation the driver package must be digitally signed by Microsoft. To make this possible the driver must pass the WHQL tests first. I'm not sure if UltraVNC's driver passed them but i know for sure that TightVNC's driver did. So it can be intalled in "unattended" mode. Hope that ...

Actually our external consultants want to use RDP (Remote Desktop), but RDP cannot be replayed, and as we use UltraVnc in general, I am going to use a VNCviewer instead of Explorer.exe for the RDP sessions. Btw, RDP can REALLY be replayed. Just look at our DemoForge Studio ( http://www.demoforge ...
